Riley or Aranda: who would stay at LSU longer?

These are the clear top two favorites of the fans at this point, but who would stay longer at LSU?
I say Aranda. Riley strikes me as the type of guy who wants to end up in the NFL (don't blame him for that), while Aranda seems like a long-haul type of hire for LSU.

I’m old enough to remember when the prevailing wisdom was that Aranda didn’t want to be a head coach and had his sites set on an NFL DC position.

That was a narrative built by the pomansky crew to make the Ed O set up seem more sustainable than it was

Riley's been at Okie for awhile even though every year someone has him going to the league / cowboys...

Coin toss. I’d imagine both will end up in the NFL at some point. Aranda doesn’t like recruiting all that much and the NFL has a collective hard on for young offensive coaches.

Yeah b/c they knew the LSU fanbase is full of cowards worried about this very issue and that was a selling point for Ed O.
That's where the "one of us" meme actually started.

Riley will be Kliff 2.0. 5 years max. I think Aranda would be in it for the long haul. But they should be the only 2 targets left with Napier as fall back.

He said this?
Yall people just make shite up.
He has been a college coach for 20 years and you think he doesnt like to recruit?
Seems like he wouldve jumped to the nfl a LONG time ago if that was the case.

I guess if our coach wanted to leave, maybe that says he's kicking arse, so not so bad.
Seems like we've been firing coaches in the recent past.

Aranda. NFL definitely has a bias for offensive wonders as HC hires even though the defensive specialists have more recent SBs.

Agree but that wisdom is already proven wrong.
And it’s sights set

Aranda stayed through 4 years of O, so I'd say him.

Stout defense is typically a huge factor in winning championships.

3 out of the last 4 super bowl champions had offensive specialist Head Coaches

Actually, he stated in an interview a few years ago that it’s his “least favorite part of his job.” All we really know is that he loves the teaching, game planning, scheming, and other parts of his job more. I get that.
Doesn’t mean he actually doesn’t like some of recruiting. I understand it to mean that it takes a lot of time away from things you could be doing to make the team you have now better.
But, believe me, he also understands that recruiting is THE lifeblood of any college football program (along with transfer portal now). So,he will make it a priority.

Also, I think that because he is a very cerebral coach, I’ll bet he’s thinking ahead of others about NIL deals. About the only things they have in Waco for such things are Baylor Health, some small businesses, maybe a couple of car dealerships, and that Magnolia House couple from HGTV, Joanna and Chip Gaines.

First so so season these lsu fans would gripe so much they will leave when they hear the sceams of all the fair weather fans who are sooooo knowledgable of all 3 phases of football. The fans have the answers and make all the right calls. There is no hire made that would satisfy this fanbase unless it is our lord and Saban. Even he better listen to the most knowledgable fanbase in America.
