Riley has had 6 years to get OU a national title in a soft league. His defenses are always suspect. Always.

Aranda, 2 years in at Baylor, is looking strong. Aranda over Riley, although there may be many OU fans (in truth, I pull for OU because my daughter, no pics, is a junior at OU) who would like to see Big Game Bob come out of retirement and take over the program.

Aranda and LSU president William F. Tate IV both like to shave their heads. Coincidence or clue as to the next coach?

A few years ago he was recruiting for Orgeron. Perhaps he didn’t like recruiting for an obvious bullshitter as he knew Orgeron was (at the very least “puffing” if not out right lying) and that’s not the way he comfortably rolls.

What’s he said on this subject THIS year?

That was then; This is now.

The interview in question happened well before LSU I believe and very early in his coaching career.

And he also didn’t even say he didn’t like recruiting, he answered recruiting when asked what his least favorite part of the job was because it takes away from some time with family and actual X’s and O’s. He had to pick something

And yet people have been using it against him for years now for some reason

Riley's been at Okie for awhile even though every year someone has him going to the league / cowboys...

If it gets to the point where they want Riley at JerryWorld, Riley will be at JerryWorld.

Living in OK, I've always found it bizarre how Okies perpetually scream "F* Texas" and "Only steers and queers come from Texas" and all that other anti-TX nonsense, yet on Sundays they scream "Go Dallas Cowboys" and "America's Team", and the Cowboys have close historical ties to many coaches who have had tenures in Oklahoma (Les Miles, Chan Gailey, Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, etc.).

It's my opinion that Riley will be in the NFL as a HC in 5 or less years. He's a hot name in the right state for the League to come calling, historically speaking.

As far as Aranda goes, I think he's the best long term option, but I think LSU will constantly be embattled with USCal, who will relentlessly pursue Dave. Dave is definitely cerebral and intelligent enough to know that a sweet college gig is more comfortable than an NFL gig, so I don't believe the League is as big of a concern.

Riley because he is a better cultural fit. They both have NFL aspirations. But I could see Aranda going to the Big 10 from LSU if it was a top job and the money was right. He is a Wisconsin guy. That being said, if Riley came here and crushed it, it would be tough to fend off Bama if they came after him post-Saban.
