How would Les Miles’ and LSU’s fate been different had Steve Kragthorpe not gotten sick just after he was hired as OC/QB coach in 2011? Would LSU have had a better shot at beating Bama on 1/9, or would Miles have meddled in his offense too? We’ll never know, but it’s interesting to think about. Thoughts?

Kragthorpe was a flop at Louisville, but very successful before that. He likely would have changed fate quite a bit.

Is he a generational offensive guru? No, but his resume was damn strong.

Crowton, Stud, Cameron all mysteriously had the toss dive in their playbook.

Seem to remember he was a very good OC, but flamed out as a HC.

I'll never say a bad word about Kragrthorpe. By all accounts he is a stand up guy and great person.

I read a Tom Jurich interview a few years back that actually made me think Kragthorpe could have easily been Les' best OC (besides Fisher). Jurich described him as brilliant, and it's not like Jurich doesn't have an incredible eye for coaching talent

I believe he helped Ensminger scheme during the week last year.

He was still on the staff this year as offense analyst. Worked from home and joined team from Thursday - Sunday for games. He is doing great health wise from what I hear.

He had a different outlook on player conduct than Petrino. He cleaned house and tried to change the culture of the team when he went to UL. But although it was probably the right move, it hurt his chances for succ as at UL

He was a very good coach and would have loved to see what he would have brought. But the Good Lord had other plans. He had a wild Offense before he came.

He failed as a head coach, as many have, but was an excellent offensive coordinator.

The toss dive wasn’t in Crowtons playbook.

He also inherited the mess that Bobby P left behind and had to clean it up. Notice what happened to Arkansas as soon as he left, as well.

That was such an unfortunate and forgotten aspect of 2011.

Really cool that he’s still on the staff (admin assistant/shadow staff) and even has a son on the staff as well. Miles/LSU took care of him and he and his family just love BR
