Resurfacing some buried nuggets on the Lane situation

Take this however you want…

He'll be able to sign the LSU contract shortly. They're working on a deal to kill some of the money he owes for leaving early in exchange for finishing the regular season. Once that's done he'll be free to sign the contract with LSU. Effective hire date will be Saturday 29th, contract signed by Sunday (23rd). LSU has given him until the end of the weekend to sign the contract before they move on.
Edit: I also know that the SEC office has been involved. I have contacts there.
I know this process has been confusing from the outside looking in. If anything I've been approved to use back channels to calm people down a bit. This whole situation is going to be talked about for years in college sports; going to be used as a hallmark example of why we need more rules around college contracts.

Just got a text with the same info as Birdlegs - Update p.5
Update - so I reached out asking why nothing was announced by LSU today. I was told Kiffin essentially begged both schools to let him coach the Egg Bowl and finish the regular season with his current guys. Both schools agreed to it.
I asked if he was still going to be the next LSU coach and was told "1000% yes". My friend said with early NSD the week after the Egg Bowl, don't think for a minute LSU doesn't have their guy in the bag. (Disclaimer - being a lifelong LSU fan...I can completely see LSU going into signing day NOT having their guy in the bag )
Also said be ready to see UF and Ole Miss interviewing other coaches. Lane can't sign anything yet because he's still under contract to Ole Miss as of today, and he knows what the perception is about how he left Tenner and doesn't want to do that again. So at least his motivation for that makes sense.

His current contract would be nullified, a new one signed for the duration of the new contract (in this case, about 1 week). That frees him up to sign the contract with LSU. This is how it was explained to me.
When the information starts leaking Sunday I'll share some other details, crazy stuff.

how can he sign on the 23rd and still coach on 28th? Ole Miss gonna do an addendum to his current contract to allow this?

Chicken, I choose to interpret this as you know something and are sending signals.

I'd like to add that the "1st post" posters on the board aren't all trolls. Some of their info is lining up with the little media reports we do get. Probably lurkers who know people on the inside and are eager to let us know. Who among us didn't lurk before we joined?
