Secondly, Miles has proven that talent alone doesn't result in titles. Some of you can't seem to grasp the fact that there is a certain amount of strategy and scheme required to be a top-level program.
We're not going to simply "out-talent" Ohio State, Alabama, or Florida State. Hell, we couldn't even do it against Wisconsin and their roster dominated by three-stars.

Yes, because he said so. He clearly laid out on radio what mistakes he made at Ole Miss, what he learned from them, and how he changed what he did when he got the opportunity at USC and now, LSU.
So far Coach O has done everything right. Let's see if that continues. If it does, he deserves serious consideration. It still might not make him the number one choice, but he would be high on the list.

None has had sustain success at a P5 school.
Rich Rod: Back when it was P6, Rich Rod was a damned good coach for West Virginia in the (then) Big East.
Gus Malzahn: Went to a national championship game. You'd take that, given the chance.
Kevin Sumlin: Has A&M winning at a more regular clip than usual, against tougher competition than A&M has faced in the past.
Brian Kelly: Doesn't even coach at a P5 school, if we're being technical.
The right 'fit' matters, no matter what program / coaching style you're discussing. I think Tom Herman would be a great fit at LSU. I also think Jimbo Fisher would be a great fit.
Chip Kelly, on the other hand, would be a 'bad' fit, but he'd come in with some much credibility that nobody would care that he's ornery and unpleasant, because he'd guarantee LSU huge offensive production, insane offensive recruiting and 10+ wins a season.

Who knows where it will end up but I'd take Orgeron with Malzhan as OC once Auburn fires him. Keep Aranda and LSU is a juggernaut.

It is too early to tell if Coach O will run the table and earn his shot, but the statement above is exactly why Coach O might be a good fit- he could be our Debo.
Coach O has said if he doesn't win enough games he doesn't deserve the job, so we'll see. I want to keep our defensive intensity/skill/ability so I can see why it would make sense to hire O, keep Aranda and bring in an offensive coordinator. But I can also see why you'd want to bring in Fisher who has a track record of developing QBs (can you imagine how Myles Brennan would develop under Fisher?)
So for me it's a toss up- which is less risky? Can Coach O keep our defensive staff and bring in a quality offensive coordinator to improve our offense, or can Jimbo develop our QBs and improve the offense and bring in/keep our defensive abilities?
I guess we have to trust Alleva to determine that (and that doesn't make me feel too comfortable, either...)

Lets back Coach O for the rest of the season and thank him for his service, then put him right back on the DL and recruiting coordinator job with a good raise right when we hire our new coach..
He could win the national title this year. (And he just might) and he still should not get the job..

They may try to convince themselves there are legit reasons he would be a good coach, but ultimately, it comes down to how he makes them 'feel'.

I absolutely love coach O and am pulling for him. But I just don't get the knee jerk reaction by some of the people on this board relative to making him permanent. It's about attitude with the team...they ALL wanted a new start. Hal Hunter SMOKED a highly ranked Arkansas team in '99 after Dinardo was fired. New team...new coach...new start. People were calling for him as head coach then as well. It's the same shite now...a fresh start. How many wanted Orgeron as HC at the end of last year?? Not many. What's so different now???
