My unsourced guess is this:
O has to win the next 3. We can't have a post bama collapse. He also better have an oline,oc and strength coach lined up.

I think if he has say lane lined up, keep our d staff intact, and hire a new s&c and win out and it's still a ok hire.

Otherwise it's Jimbo or Herman

He should be done. Terrible offense matched with terrible game management. We've already done that.

O is done. He won't be the coach here. That O line and Qb peformance was terrible last night. D is never the problem here. WE have had some very good DC's here even under miles. Pellini, Chavis, and now Aranda. forgetting the one year anomaly of steele. Offense IS THE PROBLEM and has been for ages. I like O but there is only so much he could tweak the crap les left us.

However, we need an offensive mastermind or close to it to bet these damn saban NFL defenses AT TIMES.

No more CEo type head coaches. We need a guy who can run an offense like meyer, jimbo, petrino, Petersen, Herman etc.

Clock management at end of first half was poor, burning time outs, no offensive game plan... All coming off a bye week to get ready.

Bama has a great defense, but they've been exploited by good offensive game plans. I'm extremely disappointed with how les miles like the team looked last night.

As great as our defense played, the way we dominated field position much of the game....god if we had a competent offensive minded coach......

Thank God. I'm glad at least one of the local sports voices witnessed the same game I watched.

The spinning of this is sickening. Our defense played well enough to win if we do ANYTHING on offense

The clock management at the half was the worst thing. The o is whatever, you can't overhaul an offense during the season. You can make tweaks but that gets you wins against ok defense and good defenses. You don't go all gunslinger vs bama D on the fly with a noodle arm qb. Honestly there was not shite O could have done about our offense last night. Our oline was complete and utter garbage, you can try anything you want but when the dline treats you like a bitch good luck. Also when other Ds are physical you can usually out smart them, the issue with Bama is you can't outsmart them.

I do think last night should have dropped him to about 5% chance being only if Herman and Jimbo say no. If he wins the last 3, then he should be 3rd on the list. if we lose another then he is completely gone from the list.

Who does that sound like from the past?

When are the fricking coaches gonna get it?

You can't beat Bama going toe to toe with them.

The Bama D will have something to say about execution trying to be stubborn like that.

The fact that Esminger/O thought that was a great game plan is beyond me.

im not sure he thought that was a great game plan. Its more likely he thought that was his best chance was to keep it close and hope to bust a play on them.

with the cards that LSU has what are we going to do? Elting is a serviceable qb, but he has limits and flaws. Our issue is those flaws are all things that would be things that can hurt bama. Harris might have been the better option but he isn't safe with the ball. I do think O should have went to Harris last night, that was a critical mistake.

I think he saw the best chance was let our d hold them and we win filed position and try to win a 9-6 type game. It almost worked but BDP and Grimes spoiled that.

Now I do think Herman and Jimbo would do much better on offense, or say Lane at oc. However with these cards I'm not sure what they could have done differently. Its season and you have what you have.

That was the worst offensive performance since... you know, that game.

LSU needs an elite coach. Elite coaches do not beat their heads against the wall doing the exact same thing in the exact same way, play after play, series after series.

How many times did LSU run the ball, strong side, after motioning a player strong side on the wing? I counted at least 10 times, and while it worked the first 2/3 or 3/4 times it was tried, they kept trying it after Alabama shut it down.

The best coaching option isn't being mentioned. I suspect that will change relatively shortly.

We're not hiring a coach who had two weeks to prepare and couldn't muster up a single fricking point in our OWN stadium.

Yep. It was like once again, our coaches watched zero film to see what works against their defense.

Go back and look at avg starting field position in the first half alone....and we got nothing. One field attempt from 40 plus yards. Otherwise we went backwards.

But yea, that's not on O at all. For the "we are limited offensively" crowd, I guess Western Kentucky has more talent on offense than we do. And Ole Miss. And Texas A&M.

We had golden opportunities in that first half to score on multiple drives. The offense looked like Leslie was calling the plays again

Man I completely agree. We need an offensive tactician for a HC. What scares me is the vast amount of "pro O" crowd our fan base has. Im worried that this will affect the hiring of the next permanent head coach much like the fan base played a role in retaining Miles last November. Im also scared that the powers that be will turn this into a money issue that will handcuff the hiring of a top tier candidate. I really hope we pull all the stops out and go for a home run hire. That hire can not and should not be Ed Orgeron.

there are 2 home run hires, Jimbo and Herman. that is it, everything else is a possible homer or a major strike out.
