well i didn't say Aranda would be. I just said I wouldn't oppose it if he wanted it. I have confidence he gain handle it. My biggest concern would be what OC can he pull. However, with the LSU bank we can pull just about anyone.
Im completely fine if we win out and hire O because I'm sure he will make changes to the offense. Im also pants off if we hire Herman or Jimbo because they keep Aranada.
Once we get past that its touch and go as far as who we hire.

I think you're the only one that saw what was happening last night. yo-yo's on here attribute everything to stacking the box and our coaches not noticing it. we pretty much lost most of our one on one battles. the only option that may have worked was running QB and i'm not sure about that.
yup. As i sat in my seat i watched saban roll from a cover 1 man under to a cover 2 man under to a cover 0 man blitz. we never dictated to them. They stayed in the formations they wanted. we never attacked the weaknesses of those formations and when we did hit a guy in man coverage underneath he was tackled right after the catch. no YAC. Bama stopped us everywhere with basically no extra help leaving some areas very vulnerable. spread them out and our OL got demolished in 5 on 5. Wr's couldn't get any YAC. Saban never really had to load up outside the box for horizontal stretches or inside the box for runs or deep for vertical stretches because we could not counter anything they did.
to beat that NFL defense we will need excellent QBing and a guy who can audible all night. we do not have that right now at LSU.

Chip isn't leaving the NFL.
I know a lot of people who said similar things about Harbaugh and Saban.
Things are sour in San Fran. Baalke is getting fired; ownership is a mess; Kelly hasn't done well enough to demand a GM of his choosing. A new GM will likely fire him and start over from scratch.
John Middlekauf, a bay area radio guy who rarely breaks news, talked about "open rumors" from Bay Area coaches (SF / Oak) saying Kelly was interested in LSU.
I'm not claiming there's a presser at 4pm. I'm just saying Kelly coming back to college isn't out of the realm of possibility, and LSU is an elite job.

I wouldn't be opposed to Aranda. He turned our D around so quickly and he is so clinical it could be very good.
Just shut up. Amanda as the head coach?

its a gamble but I'm not opposed to it. I don't see it happening. The preferred route would be Herman or Jimbo with Aranda as DC. I think that keeps our class in place for the most part and our D stays stellar. If we get Herman I'm sure he is keeping Aranda.
Jimbo im not so sure, but considering his dc blows arse at FSU he probably would.

true, maybe the 49ers being such a shite org will help in this. either way 3 home runs out there.

I saw a report from 247 sports that said Herman/Jimbo and a "third candidate nobody is talking about" were on the list.
It could be Kelly. It could be someone else. There are a few 'home run' hires, including a few NFL coaches, but I think Jimbo/Herman/Kelly are the top three that might actually be interested in the LSU job.
(There were rumors around Philly last year that Kelly reached out to LSU to see if they had an opening...)
Coach O... I love the man's energy and I really appreciate the work and dedication he's put into being the LSU HC ... but he came up short on the big stage. LSU needs someone who can lead a team against Alabama, and have the team ready to play on both defense AND offense.
That's all I ask. Find me a HC who can keep the team poised and focused throughout a game, and have really well coached O / D / ST units, and I'll be happy. Louisiana talent will take care of the rest from there.

Oh no doubt O took a major hit not by just losing but being shut out. I'm still at where I was before which is tier 1 Herman, Jimbo, Kelly. Now that O can't win sec, they have to say no to us.
Once we enter tier 2 it's dicey but O can regain it if we beat Arky uf and a&m. We also don't know what he is telling the power players which is a good thing. We have done a much better job not giving our hand away like we did last November. If O has Lane on the plane then he moves to the top of tier 2. He wins out, he keeps our class in the stable, keeps Aranda, brings Lane. I'm honestly not worried in the least about hiring good staff as they leave. We pay so well we should always have top staff.
The only thing that has changed IMO is now the home runs have to make us go away before we move on.

I agree with 95% of your post; however, losing to Bama 10-0 is not necessarily coming up short on the big stage. You may be right, but you may also have quarterback that isn't able or ready to make the plays that needed to be made. Also, the O-line got its tailed handed to them last night by a stronger and more physical defensive front. Now, you can argue that O should have had a game plan to get the ball out of Etling's hands quicker to mitigate the pass rush, but it's not as though the Bama DB's are giving the receivers a big cushion at the line. Also, and most importantly, O is taking over a dysfunctional offensive culture that will take more than a few tweaks and Steve Ensminger to correct.
I personally don't think O should be hired if we can land Herman or Fisher, but I don't think it's fair to disqualify him because of a 10-0 loss to Bama. O had the team ready to play and those guys played their tails off, but again, the offensive culture and confidence level is awful and it has been this way for years. Etling had opportunities to make plays and short-armed several throws and had a critical delay of game penalty. Is that coaching or is it him personally, I don't know. But regardless of the system, when a QB has an opportunity to make plays, he has to make them.

Well Kelly had did have a show cause at one time and put Oregon on probation.
And his offense may have racked up yds on the west coast, but SEC teams shut that down (including LSU)
Herman is dan Mullen without the P5 HC experience.
Offensive coaches grown on trees around the country. Lock up the defensive guy.
