My first choice for Defense would be:

Freeman-DC
Bo Davis -DL

2nd choice:
Nielson-DC
Tosh Lupoi- LB

3rd Choice:
Kris Richard-DC
Bo Davis-DL
Tosh Lupoi-LB

Offense:
Calloway OC
Rob Sale OL/RGC
John Decoster/ TE

This should leave one on the field coaching position available preferably for a young up and coming coach who can recruit.

Has this been the quietest coaching search ever I mean damn not a peep of real information out there regarding the OC/DC search

Love him or hate him, I think this is a testament to Woodward. Alleva's ship was full of rats and leaks. Good AD's keep it hush for the strategic advantage that provides.

Quite possibly.

But in years past, we'd have multiple leaks about this to the media, the media would run with it, and it would force the candidate to comment on it and piss them off before LSU can even make a strong/real pass at them. Or it gives their current team a chance to secure them (Jimbo). Or they use it for leverage and embarrass us (Herman).

Leaks frick these things up.

Leads me to believe the targets are playing in bowls and nfl season games. Those coaches are wanting their bowl and playoff bonus monies. So the reason for secrecy. Cant blame them

Especially Cincinnati, they have a chance to do something pretty special if they beat Georgia. They may finish in the top 5

This may actually be the biggest obstacle-are there any big time P5 jobs Fickel would take in which Freeman would go with him. None that I can think of, but who knows...

where that has a P5 opening would be better than being the LSU DC? the advantage to going with Fickel is you know you get 3 years of pay, but it might be time for him to break free and the best DC opening is at LSU

Penn State.

But Campbell will be on their list too.

I think they're going to try and fire Franklin soon, I really do.

It would seem that we are interviewing candidates and making a decision after we interview everyone we want. Seems like a winning philosophy when it comes to hiring.

Why is that? He seems like exhibit A of the coach who gets a mulligan because 2020 was such a weird season. If you throw out 2020, he's built them into a consistent 10-win, 7-2 in the B10 type program.

Those records sound pretty good on the surface, but not when you get into them. He's 1-6 against Ohio State, 2-10 against top 10 teams, and 8-14 against top 25 teams. Those drop to 1-5, 2-9, 8-13 respectively if you take out 2020). He has also lost to 13 unranked teams (9 if you take out this year). That is a whole lot and several are to really bad teams they had no business even being close with.

I work with a Penn St. grad that is plugged into that program pretty well. He claims the admin can't stand him, the fans are a bit restless with how often he lays eggs and doesn't beat top opponents, and his recruiting has really fallen off. Losing 2 conference games a year isn't the standard PSU wants, they want to be OSU level.

He swears they're trying to gather a case to fire him with cause with recruiting violation stuff and other ethically gray behavior.

Recruiting rankings:

2021: 22nd (Missed on top 6 players in Pennsylvania, all of whom they wanted, 2 of which went to OSU)
2020: 15th (Missed on top 3 players in Pennsylvania, all of whom they wanted)
2019: 12th
2018: 6th

Not a great trend.

I can never remember that happening in Baton Rouge’s paper. The silence by sports reporters is insane.

They’re busy chasing the next SJW story.
