I think a lot of the buzz on Herman is not related to resume, but more related to the general consensus from other programs, the media, and coaches. He's being described as a "can't miss" and an "offensive genius". He's also put an amazing offense on display as both an OC and HC.
I think it's very apparent he's had some problems this year. It's weird because he started out on fire. I know there are some serious distractions going on within the program, but it's impossible for us to say if that's the issue. Could it be that some teams have found a way to contain his offense? Maybe. But it's also not fair to determine that right away.
I'm not writing him off yet because of some issues this year. There has just been too much good put on display with this guy for me to do that.
I think we'll find out what kind of coach he is when he gets to his big program next year. That won't be us, so don't worry.

He was Urban Meyer's OC.
Just like Muschamp was Saban's DC and so was Kirby Smith.
Coaching under an elite coach on the same side of the ball as the HC's expertise is not the same as what Arranda is doing.

But you are discounting his OC even outside of OSU
As well as what he's done as a HC at Houston last season and even parts of this season..
Again look at what Saban did at Michigan st
Great wins and bad losses
It happens but he was a mastermind
OSU actually took a little step back from Herman significantly last season
Go look up their offensive stats last season without him..
The guy is perfect for LSU because he makes the most of college qbs yet schemes the run. And LSU can attact great DCs
The OC is irrelevant when you have that kind of HC
Like urban as you mentioned with offense
Or Saban with defenses
Herman is the Aranda of offense IMO and even took it to Aranda with great talent
Doesn't mean Aranda sucked as you see
Aranda is perfect example of what a sharp mastermind can do with elite talent as is Herman!
Bama fans made fun of Aranda at Wisconsin for getting obliviated by OSU yet they did as well and Aranda held them to 10 points in his first season with equal talent

I commented on how Herman gets all the credit for the W v Bama as if Meyer didn't matter.
Herman started well as a HC in year 1 and this year, but he's hit a rough patch.
He's a risk. I see him like a Muschamp, Smart or a Fisher when they were just hired. He's a potential good one, but no sure shot.

99.999999% of posters have zero ability to evaluate coaching talent. They've never hired a coach before, even for Pop Warner. They have no skins on the wall. Yet they have no problem declaring that Herman. Orgeron, Fisher, et al suck and will destroy the program. Hiring a coach is always a crap shoot.

I wouldn't say that. Their's always risk for sure, but you can definitely minimize the level of risk by properly vetting your candidates and understanding what your program needs.

Probably more than 125. Kent state did better than that on offense against Bama this year.

His dual threat QB could have picked up 50 yds alone. Bama's QB scored on one busted play. Thats all we needed was a busted QB scramble and a field goal
