Prove with data who the best coach is outside Saban and Kiffin

I’m a numbers guy. What metric is used to determine the best coach is take his SOR then compare that to his recruiting class rankings. For example Cignetti is likely pulling 40th-50th ranked classes but his SOR (or CFP poll) is 2nd or even 1st. So he +45 on SOR vs Recruiting class rankings. Sign of an elite coach. Maybe slight holes in this as a great coach also brings in higher ranked classes, but teams typically finish in a certain band year to year. Like Bama won’t be 50th and Tulane won’t be 3rd ranked classes ever.
And then average that number over last 5 years.
I’ll work on this study, but in meantime outside Saban and Kiffin, with data, whose your best coach?

Nobody cares about your numbers. I fully expect to be dissappointed by the hire by any metric used.

Kenny Dillingham.
Arizona State won 6 conference games in the last 4 years under Herm Edwards. Dillingham had them in the CFB playoffs in his second year and the are 4-2 in B12 this year. He is a great offensive mind and overall great coach.

Based on championships it’s Kirby.
Based on winning percentage against top 10 and top 25 teams it’s DeBoer.
If you want performance relative to recruiting average it’s DeBoer followed by Cignetti but Cignetti has a really small sample size and hasn’t really played anyone.

Got an idea, Mr. Numbers guy with the numbers and data. Why don’t you show us the best coaches is, if you can, but it sounds like you’re trying to come off and get everybody else to do your legwork.

How did you evaluate the best 2 coaches in college football in Ryan Day and Kirby Smart prior to their hire? They were never head coaches.
