Assuming that Woodward “has his man”, what would possibly be the holdup for the announcement if it’s a name that is done for the season. If it is an NFL guy, then it’s beyond insane to wait until the NFL season is over to announce. So let’s break it down:

If it’s not announced in the next couple days anyone who’s season is over is out. If a coach who’s season is over is named like next week or after, he’ll be one that was down the list. It’s either a coach who’s still playing meaningful games or it’s 3rd, 4th or 5th choice.
