It was an excellent question when it happened, and an even better question with hindsight.

He took an unnecessary gamble and lost. But when he decided to come, he had reasons that made him think the risk was worth it. People want to throw out their opinion that no established P5 coach would even consider coming to Arkansas which is completely unsupported given the last two hires were Wisconsin's HC and an NFL HC.

Tennessee goes for the long ball with Gruden and Kelly, but has to settle for another plain Jane hire and ends up with a mid-major coach who may or may not turn into a good hire.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic but even if/when Grissom turns us down, I still think Tennessee will make a big hire.

They are currently rolling in the money and can make a huge offer to someone, which wasn't the case back in 2012 and 2010.

agree, but i think it will be Durbin or Babers.

TAMU = Chad Morris, thats a lock, was in place last year if need be..

I think Frost will be floridas.. its either him or Mullen

Could see Ole Miss going after kiffen, would be hard to get anyone there..maybe even petrino..

Miss St. goes after Babers

Arky is a tough one i think..im not sure who they get.. Miles could actually be a possibility there.. like .00001% chance though... I would think they would go after Malzahn, jmo... if thats the case Auburn would definately take petrino in second..

Chad Morris is absolutely not A&M's top tier target barring a 9-3,10-2 season... which is unlikely based on the remaining schedule.

He is, however, absolutely the best safety net option we could have.

Florida: Scott Frost
Tennessee: Dan Mullen
Texas A&M: Matt Campbell (honestly have no idea. They will get a Power 5 coach though)
Ole Miss: Jermey Pruitt
Mississippi State: Neal Brown

I think Bert isn't fired but for fun if he is
Arkansas: Gus Malzahn
Auburn: Mike Norvell

Texas A&M - Keeps Sumlin - Sumlin will win a couple more games and a bowl game and save his job
Arkansas -Chad Morris - since Texas A&M won't come calling, Arkansas will hire an offensive minded coach that can recruit Texas to replace Bert
Ole Miss - Lane Kiffin - Ole Miss will want someone to guide them through sanctions and keep them from falling further. Kiffin got USC through sanctions, so he's ideal. Kiffin wants a better job than FAU. Ole Miss will likely be the only one in SEC that offers him a position and he will take it.
Mississippi State - Mullen - no one will take him away(partially because of his wife).
Florida - Scott Frost - Florida will offer him too much money to turn down and he will choose the Gators over Nebraska for the money and easier recruiting situation
Tennesee - Jon Gruden - Vols will camp outside Grudens house and throw money at him whenever he leaves and "scream king Jon to Tennesee". They will of course be shirtless and painted orange and white with Gruden spelled out on their torsos. Gruden will take the job for the money and lulz and install his spiderman banana xy offense

No doubt but it isn't happening with what would be potentially Long's last hire.

Maybe you are right, but the "rolling in money" was alleged the last time Gruden was supposed to be a lock too. The AD is playing it close to the vest this time and while it is making the fans nervous, my suspicion is that he's working feverishly to make a deal somewhere.

I'm not so sure. You'd make a few millions with zero expectations. Go 6-6, 7-5 and then you could move up to the next tier within a couple years.

It might not be the best situation but I think it could be a great opportunity for someone to earn a ton of goodwill. Coach O'brien with the Texans, earned a ton of credit for what he did at Penn State. I think you go after a coach that has never been an a HC but has a respectable resume as a coordinator.

It is probably going to be hard to keep anyone who does well in the first few years but I think Ole Miss just needs to find someone that puts the football program into a good spot for the next hire.

Aggies will end up with either Morris or Kelly

I think Gundy would be great at Arkansas, it's just we he want to compete in the West?

Also, id love to see someone in the sec make a run at Leach. I think Arkansas would be a good fit. He recruited Texas very well for years and he would have fun with that redneck culture
