Texas has no state income tax so LSU would have to really up the offer! THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!

You really think that will have any bearing on this? C’mon. You are talking roughly a 5% difference. That would be very easy to take care of.

So who on the list do you put over him and why?

Honestly all the candidates to me are an upgrade. Some may do better than others. The upside of Jimbeaux would be the Aggie melt. Would love to see Elko come with him because between the two, they have recruited well without a long track record of development at aTm.

Wow, what a melt.

I’m sorry Woodward isn’t consulting you before making a hire.

I'm not excited about Jimbo, but lets look this objectively.
-Everyone wants Riley (me included) but he consistently gets beat by the SEC top teams. He also has lost to lesser teams.
-Fickell has done well at Cincy, but we don't know how he will do in the SEC
-Kiffin (my 2nd choice) is a great offensive guy, but we don't know how good he is as a HC yet and if "bad Kiffin" will come back
-Aranda (love the guy) but has limited HC experience
-Napier has a lot of potential, but would be a high risk jump to P5 SEC
-Tucker uninspiring pick and limited track record
-Franklin has the Vandy baggage and some bizarre actions at Penn St that give me pause

So the bland Jimbo has:
-Proven success as an SEC HC
-Has won a NC and multiple 10+ win seasons at FSU
-Recruits well and develops QBs
-Knows LSU and could step in with an easy transition

Jimbo is far from a perfect choice, but who on our list is? Riley is our HR candidate, but look at how he's done this year with a loaded team. He barely beat 1 win Tulane and Kansas, had to come from behind vs Texas and struggled with Nebraska, WVU, and K State.

Jimbo has a better resume than just about any other realistic candidate. He would cruise to 10 wins a year at LSU and there aren’t many guys outside of Lincoln Riley I’d rather develop Nussmeier and Walker Howard.

Have a downvote. Don't settle for a Jimbo hire. It's not 2013 anymore.

Bro - that leads to super wealthy people choosing to live in Texas, Florida, and Tennessee all the time.

6% of $7,500,000 is $450,000. Over let's say 6 years, that's $2,700,000. Yes, it matters.

Tell me more about all these QBs he’s developed?
Also, I don’t think there’s one active NFL WR that has played for Jimbo.

He’s the embodiment of archaic offensive football.

It gets kind of covered and dismissed because he’s such a great recruiter and overall a good program manager, but yes absolutely

We, like A&M fans, will be begging for him to relinquish control of the offense, which he will never do

He is quoted as saying “this is the same offense as I ran in 1993”

Yes, I understand all of that.

My point is LSU will just pay the extra.

We don’t need to hire anyone else who has a doppelgänger character in The Waterboy.

This. Our pockets aren't nearly as deep as aTm's. It was surprising enough that we even got the buyout for O and his staff.

Jamarcus Russell
Jameis Winston
Christian Ponder
EJ Manuel

All first RD draft picks. He also coached Rohan Davey and Matt Mauck who did well at LSU. That's going pretty far back, but he's gotten the most out of some less than talented QBs. Mond actually did statistically well over his career except when playing LSU.

Well it looks like alot of financial supporters of LSU`s
football program are about to save their money, because it
is going to be JIMBO.DONE DEAL.TAKE IT TO THE BANK.I will
never post again if it isn`t.
He loved LSU and should have gotten the job when Les was
hired.He had a deal done in 2015 until the La.Gov and k.
Alexander got involved and played politics.
I don`t particuarlly like his Offense but recruiting will
be off the charts.Ithink he is smart enough to utilize
LSU`s talent ,he is no Les Miles.
