I don't know too much about him but I've heard a lot of really good reviews. Why is he not being rumored more for the job opening and what's some positives/negatives about him?

Why is it okay he goes like winless year one

Gets top recruiting class every season in his conference yet has dropped multiple games in conference every season for 3-4 seasons

He finally hasn't lost but he typically has most talent and yet everyone nitpicks on other coaches for losses

This is what his 4th or 5th season?

Because Western Michigan was not a good football school before Fleck got there. It's not like they had been in the top 25 before or beaten any power 5 conference teams. He has done things that his school has never done before. To say his first few seasons were failures are stupid. The man can Coach and motivate. LSU may not get him as the next HC but he does deserve an interview. He is the next great young Coach. He is where Herman was as a coach before He was the man at Houston.

Typically a good time to evaluate a coach tbh

He didn't exactly take over a power house program, and the team showed improvement over the course of the season. He went 1-11 in year one, then 8-5 year two.

His first full recruiting class are juniors now. So I don't think the argument that his teams are consistently more talented that the opposition holds water.

Fourth, he took over a team that was 4-8 the previous year, and has since gone 1-11, 8-5, 8-5, 10-0. Difficult to scoff at that record.

I like how this name keeps getting pumped but from everything we've heard, he's not on anyone's radar.

A couple of guys like Draconian Sanctions disagree, but the general consensus is he probably needs seasoning for two or three years like Urban Meyer got at Utah before going to big boy football. That said, if you think he is the next big thing, why not beat everyone else to the punch? Especially if everyone else is fighting over somebody like Herman. Oregon, Baylor, and even places like ND and Tennessee should be taking a hard look at Fleck right now.

I'm not saying he should be. I wouldn't even know who he is if not for this board. All I can do is look at his record and recruiting and make a judgement from that. I don't know anything about his coaching style, quality, or philosophy.

I've seen people basically call him a young Orgeron. Maybe that's true, I'd rather roll the dice on 'young Orgeron' (with HC experience, unlike Orgeron from 10 years ago) than hire current Orgeron.

I'll admit I'm biased against O. I was at LSU during his tenure at Ole Miss, and he was a joke. Fair or not, I haven't been able to separate him from that joke.

I personally think it is a good thing for a coach to take over a program and make it better over time as it totally becomes his program. I could be wrong on this assumption, but for some reason that is what comes to mind.

LSU fans want LSU to look at a guy who was a one-season-wonder with another coach's players and then looks much worse the next season. I don't think it would be any more embarrassing for them to look at this guy.

Because if you hire someone before they are ready, they are in over their head and will fail. Some need "training" and a middle-tier job before going to the big boys.

If LSU considers him they might as well consider the LaTech offensive coordinator since they have the best offense in the country

These obviously aren't the caliber coaches that a powerhouse program like LSU needs to win championships. Credit to them, but most of their success comes due to the low quality opponents they play every week

That first year was brutal for him:

Going from losing to a 4-8 Nicholls team that had only 2 Division I wins (WMU & NWST) that season and a 70-7 loss to ULL to now being 10-0 is pretty impressive, IMO.

He's good for a promotion to Hillsdale college. Outside that he's not qualified for LSU
