How are you now feeling about the Chavis hire now? i've gotten over the initial disappointment of my choice not being picked and now really like the hire. Hopefully he can do wonders for our LBs which have been a weak point for a while, even under saban. A Vol writer was on the radio today and had nothing but good things to say about the guy and even dispelled a few of my chavis concerns. It also seems like he's already hit the road recruiting so maybe he just didn't do it much at UT because Phil didn't require him to do much anymore or maybe he's just doing so now to get familiar with the coaches in La.
Coupled with the rest of the hires I feel incredibly good about our where our D is headed. They all seem to be extremely good coaches and SEC battle tested. Les has handled his first big setback here about as good as you could possibly expect.

I still think it's an amazing hire. Best possible of the available candidates, to be sure.

One thing Les was obviously paying attention to is chemistry. Not only with players, but among the coaches.

With the assistant hires, I'm really warming up to Chavis. Cooper was an unbelievable grab. I'm still a little burned with O, but not because of any fault with LSU. I think his BS comment about his dream is to be LSU's head coach one day just about did it. Brick will be a great addition too.

cooper really came out of left field. I was starting to feel uneasy and that maybe mallory was staying put. Great hire
O definitely burned us, but we did all we could there. Les probably had to swallow a lot of pride to even offer the guy.

Huge upgrades, Cooper was a helluva steal. Back 7 will be awesome, and the DL will only improve.

I also like the hire more and more. Not just because of Chavis but our entire defensive staff looks rock solid.
I'm excited to see what these guys can do. Its possible you could see a big turn around in our defense in just one year; couple that with the hopeful progression of the offense and i'm pumped for 2009.

I think the Cooper hire is an awesome get for LSU. *two thumbs way up*
I'm still not that excited about the Chavis hire. I like it more now that Cooper is on board as the third and Chavis and Mustang coverage will be in Cooper's hands.
I was never huge on O being here or not.

a small part of me still wants to see what walker could of done here. but i think it's more curiosity than anything else.
i got word of chavis early on and have thought this was a great hire. it would of taken someone pretty damn amazing to become available out of nowheres to top him. the SEC experience and the fact he has staying power with success is what won me over right away.
then i heard how excited he was to come here and it won me over more.
now i'm hearing he is a recruiting as well or better that peveto.

maybe miles was a genius for sacrificing this year with the co-dc's. we wouldn't have gotten this staff last year.

Exactly, LSU will have a proven SEC coordinator for years to come. Chavis has aspirations to be a HC.
