Verbal commitments, especially when Jimmy Sexton is involved, are worthless.

That’s a lot of money For a guy that’s never win a championship, coached a championship game or even been to the playoffs
If we need to pay that much, he probably doesn’t really want to be here

Why?
Early Signing Day and the opening of the portal right after that. You have to announce a hire and start building a staff to keep your commits and then have the ability to go all-in for the now one portal window. With fairly equal money offers, you aren’t going to be able to get top targets up against more stable programs without coaching changes unless you have everything in order.
This isn’t rocket science.

You’re worth is what someone will pay. Just because you want to be somewhere does not mean you should take a pay cut.

Yes but is it enough to fend off UF. That’s my primary concern and should be everybody else’s on this board now. They are making a push too
Lane pushed back when they demanded that he wear jorts to his introductory press conference to show that he was all in. LSU bound.

Every $ that is spent on coaching takes $ away from the roster spend.
The teams paying their coaches less, who choose to allocate that to their rosters will have a huge advantage in recruiting.

It's not a zero sum game, and the schools are limited in how much they can spent on players.

$86mil?
I thought it was $96mil?
They're pushing out specific number combinations to figure out who's leaking what to who

LSU and UF are certainly not apples to apples. comparatively LSU is a diamond to university of Florida’s emerald! Both good, however, which one will hold it value longer?!
Posted on 11/22/25 at 2:06 pm to JoeyP239
How on earth would you know that?

LSU will be in the playoff next year with Lane.

Do you have an example of this?
Since NIL began, the champions have been
Ohio State - enormous budget and the standard in cfb right now
Michigan - enormous budget during the Harbaugh era
UGA - enormous budget
All of these schools were paying their HC a huge contract

It’s because one of UF board members is telling anyone who will listen that he is confident Kiffin to UF is happening and he’s willing to put his reputation on the line for it. But besides that one guy, no one else is saying anything about UF.
Posted on 11/22/25 at 3:25 pm to plance
Yes I’m sure the final deal will be juiced a little more over the last week. But unless UF decides to offer him some stupid amount of money that resets the coaching market, Kiffin already has shown that when the money is equal he prefers LSU to the other two.
