He wants to finish the regular season out with his team. It’s understandable.

It is wild to me people don’t understand this. Just because an announcement will be made later doesn’t mean he doesn’t know or everything else we have heard isn’t accurate…

Because he cares about his players and wants to make sure they make the playoffs before his exit. just a guess

I guess, but man it's gonna be a long week in Oxford

This whole thing is out of control. Needs to end.

It’s a potential transition from one multimillion dollar job to another… did people think this would be drama-free & decided in 3 weeks?

Literally exactly how it went last time he needed to renew his contract. And everyone said the exact same thing about how he was doing irreparable damage and losing the fans by doing it then as soon as he renewed everyone was over it

He doesn’t want to abandon his team and staff during the season. Due to the timeline of CFB coaching the playoffs will be impossible but he probably wants to ensure they make it by coaching this one last game.

A glorified try-out within his system, to see who makes the cut to transfer to LSU along with him.

Because it's the right thing to do and he's trying to honor his committment.

He would coach through the playoffs if Ole Miss would let him.

I’m sure he’d like to coach as long as they’ll let him. Why wouldn’t he?

This is real risk on Ole Miss' part. Incredible risk. A loss to MSU on Friday, followed by Kiffin's departure for a bitter rival the next day, is deadly to CFP chances. They have to know that.

So they are supposed to fire him now, creating a chance where a CFP ending loss to MSU is more likely?

How about a scenario where you beat your in-state rival, clinch for your first shot at a national championship since the Kennedy administration, then laugh at your other arrogant rival by announcing they aren't good enough for your coach.

If Ole Miss hates LSU, this might be a once in a lifetime opportunity to pants and laugh at LSU

It won’t really last until next Saturday. The official announcement may be next Saturday, but the talking heads will start putting out info immediately. ESPN probably will break far before next Friday.

I don't think this is gonna stay under wraps for a week. I wouldn't be shocked if this was made public sooner

Maybe if they'd handled this internally and not have leaked this to anyone, then it would've looked a little better. I know why they did it because of the calendar but damn man.

Its not understandable AT ALL for ole miss to allow it though. That is craziness. They need to move on and get ready for the rest of their season without him

I just can’t imagine a situation where ole Miss allows a coach going to one of their biggest rivals to stay around another week so everyone can talk about lsu more than they talk about ole Miss and their biggest season ever
