man, that sounds more like info being released by Napier's agent. That HCIW bullshite never seems to pan out.

Didn’t work too well for Bowden though.

Bowden wouldn’t let go though and was way, way past his prime

Saban won’t allow himself to go out like that

If it was put in writing with a damages clause of 10M if it didn’t come to fruition he may take that deal...that’s about what it would take I believe.

I don't believe this is permissible by the NCAA any more.

Unless there’s something going on with Saban health wise behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

Even so, following Saban will be the most thankless job in the history of sports

Oh I’m not saying Florida State was wrong for cutting him loose but you still have to think that Bowden feels like he got stabbed in the back.

Coaches are egotistical people. They can’t let it go. How many coaches do you know that have retired while they were still effective?Urban Meyer I guess and maybe Petersen. That’s all I can think of.

The point is I don’t see a guy like Saban giving the green light on hiring his replacement while he’s still coaching.

This. If Saban was going to hang it up, they would’ve just kept Sark and promoted him. Letting him walk to go after Napier makes zero sense.

Might be his idea though. It’s awfully strange that Napier has turned down three sec jobs, don’t you think.

Sure. He’s waiting on something. But I highly doubt that leaving his program for the mythical head coach in waiting title is that something.

I am hearing that Napier was offered 2.5 million to be Bama's OC and possibly be HC in waiting.

If that’s true, I wonder what Bama offered Sark to stay?

If they didn’t try to retain Sark with the HCIW tag, then why not? Is Sark really damaged goods?

Just passing along info. I have no care one way or another.

I get it man and I believe you are a one of the few credible sources on this site. I just think your source for this particular info may be a little off this time.

Jimbo pushed Bowden’s arse right on into retirement.

Oh it’s possible that it COULD work.

I’m sure Muschamp believed he would be the next head coach at Texas too.

No one is saying that it’s impossible. We’re saying it’s highly unlikely.

I just can't see Saban being the type to have a HCIW sitting around waiting to push him out the door. Little bit of ego, little bit of an insecurity complex as an aging coach.

...or it could be a control freak's option to hand-pick his successor and the person who will take over his legacy.

I don't think being a HCIW on Saban's staff would go all that well
