LSU was the laughing stock of the SEC when we hired Les Miles after Nick Saban went to the NFL.

Further more, no one thought much of us when we hired Saban either.

For all of you that are making fun of Auburn for not getting a top notch coach, look at your own team. LSU couldn't land a topnotch coach a year after a National Championship.

We quickly forget how we've been shunned and begin to elevate our program to a status we aren't at. We aren't the Mecca of programs that coaches have been dying to come to.

I think most people are laughing at AU for tossing out a winner like Tubbie for Chizik. Can you really not see the difference?

Tubby was on the way out anyway...when you fire your new OC before the midway point of the season, things aren't looking good...

I agree...

Under Chizik in 2004, the Tigers allowed a national-low 11.3 points per game en route to an unbeaten season.

Chizik then left for Texas. He spent two seasons as Mack Brown's assistant head coach and defensive coordinator, helping the Longhorns to the 2005 national championship.

Les Miles had taken OSU to the cotton bowl and then the alamo bowl before he took over here, sure he wasnt a homerun hire to most fans but hell he was ten times a bigger splash than Chizik.

2006 Pass D Stats

Texas: 99th

who was in that secondary? 2-3 1st round picks and a guy who would have gone 1st day if not for character concerns

2004 Auburn D was fantastic. No denying that.

Texas D wasn't really any good, I agree.

just remember this in 3-5 years when Miles is gone and we are trying to land a coach. We'll be throwing names around that are highly thought of. Then, we'll land some coach that will make us all go WTF?

It's happened twice already. All I'm saying is that many of you are acting like we are some highly sought after school that top 5 coaches would die to be at. Yet, we've yet to land anyone that fits that category.
