Sounds like Alleva needs to have a private talk with Aranda and ask him about his plans before proceeding.

Saturday's loss to Alabama did not disqualify CEO

With LSU not scoring a single point. Yes, it did

O was never really "in the running", but it served to keep the real search low key. His previous W/L record would never have allowed him to get the job. Plus, admin needed to give him a reason to win games, keep the fans engaged

LSU has targeted coaches that are offensive minded, because that's THE reason they got rid of Miles

Not all coaches have the talent to be a successful head coach. In my opinion coach O is not one of them. Some coaches have to take in a lot of experience of trial and errors to be successful, but there are some that is already shown they can be successful with very limited experience at a young age. Those are the coaches that has the talent to be a successful head coach. I have no doubt that Herman is one them.

So would Jimbo. I think the Herman and Aranda are best buddies angle is a little overblown

Agreed. Jimbo is proven, Herman not so much.... Herman could get the job in BR or Austin, go 6-6 two years in a row, be a total disaster, and then get fired. And I think the BFF thing is overblown also. Herman spent a few weeks inn Aranda's couch, and they haven't been together since. If they had some sort of special bond, they would've gotten back together by now.

The main reason Aranda's likely gone if O gets the job is he'll likely join Herman at Texas or (possibly) USC.
unless Im mistaken hes single with no kids. between the Wisconsin and LSU jobs, he went back home and lived with his parents in Redlands, CA., which is about 2 hours from USC.

there is absolutely nothing tying him to LSU, he could go to USC and become a star in LA, then take the UCLA job when they fire Mora.

if we dont lock him down right now, it will be a massive mistake. if we have to make him HC, so be it, there is no home run, not even fisher, so since we have to take a chance anyway, take it with the best defensive coach in CFB. he already has a few great coaches around him, not to mention a fantastic support staff in place with Austin and others, so the transition would be as smooth as it ever could be.

I would love to hear Aranda discuss who he considers the top OC's in the country. I have to think he already has a list of guys he would choose if given the chance.

Last, I have heard that if we give the job to CEO, Aranda's likely gone. I think something's up there.

If that's true, there is no reason to consider Orgeron.

If this is true then that should eliminate Orgeron from the list. I'd take Aranda on this staff over Orgeron any day of the week

You really look dumb saying this. Fisher is about as much as a homerun as it gets.

Is this speculation or do you have a "source" as well?

No, Aranda has a family. He talks about them in the interview he did in the offseason.

its completely overblown, they worked together for less than a year, in 1998, almost 20 years ago.

how many people here are still friends with people they worked with 20 years ago?

He (Aranda) was actually my roommate in college for a semester," Herman said in this Cleveland.com story from 2014. "Actually, maybe I just slept on his couch a bunch of weeks in a row and that counted as roommates."

If you're going to proclaim its sooooo overblown, at least get it right.

If LSU hires O and loses Aranda It will be a fail of epic proportions. Hell it would be a massive fail if LSU hires O and keeps Aranda. I really hope LSU doesn't screw this up.
