And if SW did that and hired Napier this site would crash for days. The people bitching and freaking out right now would be the exact same people freaking and bitching out then.

Ours is honestly the most schizophrenic fan base I’ve ever encountered.

Most of the people on the board which are probably 90% non athletic and don't know shite...This board has the worst fans in college football..See for yourself..go check out a few others..The fans and the media do not help any coaching search at LSU..

Florida has F’ed up hires since Meyer left—and before Meyer there was also one Ron Zook.

So because it was quick doesn’t mean it it was good.

And that’s also what she said.

Everybody’s making my post about Napier. It’s not. It’s about how it appears that we haven’t targeted someone and don’t seem to have a plan, even with all the time we’ve had to make something happen.

Woodward’s supposed to be this big game hunter, and maybe he’ll turn out to be the ultimate chess master, but I’m having trouble seeing it at the moment.

From the sound of things, we didn’t conduct a single interview, and had a 5 week headstart. They got their guy. We got the shaft.

They are betting heavily on a coach that in reality hasn’t done much at the highest levels. Is he a good coach, yes! Is he a Diamond in the rough? A future Saban type, ? Hell he may be but to say they put on a clinic is absurd. They didn’t do anything but hire the first guy that popped up.

This. A search conducted this quickly and focused on one guy who isn’t a known quantity at the P5 level will get an AD just as fired if it doesn’t work out.

I don't know about worst fans, but LSU fans have a completely skewed perception of the business aspects of CFB coaching and coaching searches.

A comparable football program and perhaps bigger brand in a much bigger and more desirable state just went and hired a guy LSU claims is way, way beneath them. It's pretty crazy to witness.

Only half the fans say he is beneath them.

I think he is a good coach and even better if he hire an oc.

If you’re concerned, all of the know it all’s around here, who actually know nothing, will tell you to relax. I’m not in some kind of panic, but I’m pretty confused at the moment. This search is unsettling.

So did USC and it appears Ok is moving quickly as well. If Heupel leaves, Tenn will probably move just as quickly. I know Kentucky will.

I mean it’s not difficult to snag a G5 coach that’s been itching to leave to a bigger program like LSU/Florida. Especially since LSU showed no interest

This

LSU could have signed him weeks ago

Hope we don’t regret it

florida doesn't go "big"

Spurrier (came from Duke)
Zook (average NFL DC)
Muschamp (DC/unproven HC)
Urban (came from Utah)
Mclwein (just another Bama disciple / avg resume)
Mullen (MS State / Urban OC)

Not one of them was the HC of a major college or NFL program

ETA: Napier (USL head coach). And FWIW, I think it's a great hire and that Napier is a really good HC

You can downplay Napier all you want but he's been on everyones list since last year..He didn't inherit a legacy program like Riley..He took a loser and rebuilt it to a winner..Not everyone can do that. He has also made UL the best team in the state of Louisiana the last two years..Hell he has U Frickin L ranked. This is Spurrier all over again and Billy Napier will be y'alls new daddy..

I mean I am sure the guy is a decent coach; however, coaching ULL is not even like coaching a bottom SEC school. He was coaching against one P5 school a year and losing. I am not saying he is for sure going to be a bust, but it is a gigantic leap going from ULL to a program like Florida (or LSU). I am not sure what supports any Sun Belt school to be ranked based off of their schedule.

It is definitely a reach to hire Napier to a big time program considering his resume, but good for him for convincing a big program for taking a chance on him.
