Jason La Canfora works for CBS, not the NFL network.

vols fans, serious question: if chucky is so interested in tennessee from his grad asst days, how come he wasnt hired instead of dooley back in 2010? he was unemployed (as far as coaching goes) and dooley wasnt a very popular hire. what gives?

taking a coaching job would have nullified his absurd buyout.

Gruden IS the winningest coach in Bucs history.

That is equal to saying that you are the winningest football coach at Kentucky. Not that impressive.

Gruden if hired, would obtain "ROCK STAR" status in the State of Tennessee. Recruiting would be easy for him..."Who wouldn't want to play for the guy on Monday Night Football"? ..... If we get him fine, If not..I'm in favor of making a run for Greg Roman..The OC of the 49er's who interviewed for the Vandy job a few years back. He ran the offense at Stanford for Harbaugh and is running it for the 49'ers...His wife is from East Tennessee also.

gruden to tenn and smart to aubies would be huge for LSU because it would significantly complicate the recruiting for bama, georgia, and florida.

I'm a huge Gruden fan and would be jealous of UT if they get Gruden. I think the guy would be a great hire at the college level and that would be awesome for UT if they were able to land him.

I like how Gruden's record gets posted at Tampa Bay as proof that he's some kind of bad coach.

The guy won a superbowl and has been popular on MNF and ESPN since he took the job. Players would line up to play for him. If he hires a good staff around him,
watch out.

People in the NFL know he's a good coach too. It's not like his name gets mentioned for just about every single coaching vacancy for no reason.

What are all the connections between Gruden and Tennessee?

1. His wife is from Tennessee (Alumni)
2. He owns property in TN
3. Grad Assistant (right?)

Am I missing something else?

Funny, I would argue that Bear Bryant was the most impressive coach in the history of the NCAA.

I think he's the most over rated coach that TD is obsessed over. What did he do in Tampa that makes everyone salivate? He took over an already built team, and gave it the last push it needed to get over hump. He did good that year, but then the team slowly deteriorated on his watch.

For a "QB lover" and offensive guru, he didn't exactly do a good job with QBs or the offense in his time there.

This guy is the anti-miles. Everyone just thinks he's some great coach b/c he acts smart and is likable, but there's lots of evidence to suggest otherwise. This guy will be a bigger disaster than bill Callahan at nebrask. He's a better coach than Callahan, but thats the problem. Callahan was a disaster and easy to move on from. Gruden will show juuuuusst enough to hang around way too long and destroy that football program.

Or if he has any success early, he will be nick saban while at LSU- after every year, he'll be the first name thrown out for every open NFL job and leave in the middle of the night or leverage it for more money

If I were an SECeast team, I would love for tenn to hire chucky. Dude doesn't scare me one bit.

Thank you for your opinion, we, the volunteers, will take Gruden in a nanosecond without even thinking,

Gruden, come home to TENNESEE!!!
