Most LSU grads don't give a shite one way or the other. Sidewalk baws from Acadiana and grads from the other smaller schools can't help themselves in these threads. Diat should be here any second once he gets back from collecting his unemployment check

Not playing "stupid games." Louisiana Ragin Cajun fans don't care that Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College brands their name as LSU. So answer my question. Why do you and many more fans get so angry or offended with our brand, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns??? It is LEGAL!!!

Because the copywrite "University of Louisiana" is owned by Tulane.
Because colleges in the University of Louisiana system are forbidden by statute to refer to themselves as only "The University of Louisiana".

That sums it up. You're in the University of Louisiana system and this system forbids any school to refer to their self as "The University of Louisiana". It's a slap in the face to every school in the system. Your school, ULL, does not represent the whole state of Louisiana. What ULL is doing is backhanded and unethical. Leave the University of Louisiana system and do what you want. Until then quit getting upset when other schools will not play your name game.

Your response is so far off that it is comical. You are talking about University names, when in fact, the issue is about Athletic Branding. Your ignorance of facts is astounding, which appears to be the norm for many people who post here. Maybe a fellow LSU fan can explain this to you, since you have NO CLUE on this issue. Let me explain this as simply as I can. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette chooses to BRAND THEIR ATHLETIC TEAMS AS THE LOUISIANA RAGIN CAJUNS, just as Louisiana State University and Agriculture and Mechanical College chooses to use the brand LSU TIGERS! Got it now??????

Read my post above, genius. Don't you think if we were doing something illegal, the State would have stopped us by now!!! Once again, you are confusing ATHLETIC BRANDING with UNIVERSITY NAMES!!!

Not confusing nothing. What your doing may not be against the law but it's definitely unethical.

UL-L played this one smart, trademarking “Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns”. Accept it and move on.
Oh...
Lafayette >>>>>>>>>Ruston.
Deal with it.

I think I heard that the base is around $900k. Probably bonuses for conference championship, bowl game, attendance figures, etc

I’m glad the Cajuns invested in their future the way they did. Hopefully they’ll be competitive again and will be able to jump conferences eventually.

Uh, please tell me why our Athletic Branding is, in your own words, UNETHICAL???? Anxiously awaiting your reply...............

Don't waste your time. These goofs don't understand the simple concept difference between a university name and a brand name. You bring up the branding example, they respond with "but that's not your legal name!!!" Like a freaking winding toy. It's so predictable.

It's not just athletic branding.
"The University of Louisiana" should be worthy of that name academically; until then, it is properly withheld.

Are you one of the "grownups"? You talk like a punk teenager.

The ongoing problem with branding as "Louisiana" is that it is 5 syllables, which is way to much. They should follow the UC Berkeley athletic branding model.
Legal name: University of California, Berkeley
Athletic name: California
Branding: Cal
Legal name: University of Louisiana at Lafayette
Athletic name: Louisiana
Branding: Lou
Louisiana is a mouth full to repeatedly pronounce for any broadcaster and takes up more space on consumer products, uniforms, fields, signs, etc.
Brand as "Lou". It would work.
