Yep. Nebraska can't recruit bangers from south central anymore and roids are being cracked down on. Those two things define NU 90's success.

I'm mixed about it. Firing a coach that goes 67-27 over a seven-year period seems silly to me.

Then I remembered that Missouri and Kansas State, two teams that don't have Nebraska's history, have done a lot more in the past seven years when it comes to competing for conference titles.

They just better have an ace up their sleeves. Is not necessarily the firing that's the bad decision. It's the next hire that makes the decision bad.

The more I read this thread the more I realize people are just uninformed about the business of CFB and what reality is.

yet some how for several decades they were able to recruit top players. Nebraska won by owning Nebraska/Missouri/Kansas, cherry picking California and Kansas JUCO, and some big time national recruits

plus redshirting all their OL, plus a hell of a walk-on program, and recruiting thugs like the Peters and Lawrence Phillips.

Well, fear of the unknown is not a legit reason to keep a coach.

Big mistake by Nebraska? Firing a coach with 9 wins. Who do they think is better that will move there?

Maybe Tom Osborne will go back to the sidelines. Might be their only option for relevance.

Most kids nowadays have no clue who Osborne is. If they want to succeed, they need someone who's a big name and who kids know and want to play for. An up-and-comer isn't gonna cut it.

Paul fricking Chryst? He's on the verge of being fired from Pitt because he can't win more than 6 games in the awful ACC

One can only hope. That would be a dream come true if it came to fruition.

Unfortunately, there isn't much elite football talent in the state of Nebraska.

Richt definitely would, if he was fired at GA. He's from Omaha and still has a lot of family there. Heck, I'd go after him regardless. He's my #1 choice.

He might be ready for a change of scenery, as well. Never know unless you ask.
