Remember what happened last time they fired a 9 win coach.

Blame that on Steve Pederson. That entire situation was a huge clusterfrick. I'm hoping that Eichorst has a better plan. My biggest fear is that he'll bring in one of his old cronies from Miami (Golden or Chryst).

Don't blame the fans. Blame Pelini. The guy was a real D-bag sometimes and didn't know when to keep his much shut.

Yep. Nebraska can't recruit bangers from south central anymore and roids are being cracked down on. Those two things define NU 90's success.

Exactly, the end of partial qualifiers and the NCAA crackdown on steroids ended the NU miracle.

NU fans are delusional. 9 wins a season is success for 90 percent of all programs out there.

I'm sick of hearing the whole 9 wins argument. All of the wins are against the cupcakes of the league. Allowing 408 yards of rushing to a RB, in 3 quarters, is unacceptable. Repeatedly getting humiliated in blowout losses on national TV is unacceptable. Forget what would be considered successful at 90% of programs. Nebraska wants to be elite and I applaud them for refusing to settle for less than that.

Nebraska is in the middle of no where. They will never win big due to that, the state is terrible with no recruiting talent the bordering states are just as bad.

This is why I am surprised Nebraska had so much success in the past. Kids have to travel thousands of miles away from home to play for them and then the state is like 98 percent white. I have no problem with Nebraska, but those seem like pretty tough obstacles to overcome

OK so let's say that Les Miles wins 9 games per year, beating his OOC opponents and lower-tier SEC foes such as Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky every year. Yet every year whenever they play Bama or Auburn they get blown out on national TV in embarrassing fashion (similar to the Auburn game this year). Even though they have 9 wins per year they have no SEC championships or BCS bowl berths. Would you be satisfied with that and continue to support it after 7 years of the same thing? Of course not.

In my opinion the only way Nebraska can return to elite status is if they pay big $$ to bring a top name to Lincoln, someone who can recruit and lure kids there.

Pour more money into top notch recruiters, dip into Texas and Ohio, and focus on winning the conference.

You realize that Nebraska's pipeline to Ohio just got canned, right?

Forget about Ohio…Kentucky, OSU, and UT has it locked down.

Tressel?

Y'all have lost your god damn minds.

Plus, I think he is having fun being the AD at Youngstown State.

Nebraska administration and show clause….

Does not compute.

So, you get rid of a PR nightmare for another one?

True, and I agree that Nebraska like other big ten programs should have a national championship as a goal. But only one team from the big ten will now have a change to go to the playoffs for the foreseeable future.

What's next? You fire a guy who averages 10 wins a season because he couldn't win it all?

Nobody's expecting to win it all. However, Nebraska should be competing for conference championships and top-tier bowl games on a semi-regular basis.

Welcome to the 21st century. Everything about college football has drastically changed.
Ok so what specifically has changed that doesn't allow Nebraska to recruit nationally?
