For those interested, if Billy Napier takes a new job before the end of 2021, he (or the school that hires him) will have to pay Louisiana-Lafayette a $3 million buyout.

Just saw this. Ppl were wondering why nothings been said on his future, this may be a big part of it

Having a $3 million buyout is almost exactly like not having a buyout.

Can he give a month's notice and then avoid the buyout because he has agreed to "stay on" until 2022?

They do, but at the same time they’re handing DM 12 to leave and word is Napier is shaking the piggy bank demanding they up the money needed for upgrades to staff / recruiting ect.
History has shown me that UF is cheap lol

ULL needs that $3mil because RCAF only raised like 1.2mil over the past year. Not sure how they are affording Napier at $2mil a year as it is.

No. He’s delaying any commitment until he knows that LSU will definitely not make a phone call to him.

Lsu has been too. It's why both programs have been passed up by bama and uga. But frick that, LSU is going all in now and if UF is hiring napier, they are too. Napier will not go if he doesn't get the assistant and recruiting budget he wants.
Same with Riley for us. He wouldn't come without the overall budget going up to bama and uga levels.

WRONG.....UL getting huge amounts of money from oilfield, hospitals, alumni, and more. I promise UL is not suffering for money. Exactly why our baseball stadium is one of the best in the nation, incudling LSU's. Football stadium having massive renovation after his year. I know LSU is LSU, but UL is just fine. RCAF is doing fine. COVID hurt every college and university in the nation. UL no different.

Mullen's buyout was $6M + $1M for 6 years. Not $12M upfront

NOT WRONG - trust me I have a family member on the inside of the program. But believe what you want.
