For the sake of their program, Napier needs to jump next year. They need someone to prove it can be done. Once he does it, they won't have any trouble hiring a talented up and comer to replace him.

I could see Napier at Bama when Saban leaves . Not too many people will want to follow Saban and Napier is a hot commodity and familiar with the program and the South

Texas isn't hiring a coach from ULL.

He’s not that hot. Like Ruhle and Fleck, he needs to prove he can do it on a P5 level before making a bigger move. Not all of these guys are instant home runs, as we can now see with Fuente.

For sure, he would need to go somewhere else first and prove himself but finding established head coaches from power 5 jobs is not as easy as it used to be with everyone getting big money and job security . Throw that in with the success Saban has had, I could see Bama having to go further down the list than they would like . Having said that, I think he is a good coach though

Napier was States number one choice but got too big for his britches thinking he was a hot commodity that everyone wanted. Now he's stuck at ULL another year.

That makes sense, and you are probably right. Most guys don’t want to follow an act like that and have the constant comparisons that come with them.

Would be an absolute home run for Bama post-Saban.

I thought Florida State fricked up by not hiring him.

They can no longer afford Cristobal. The only college job Cristobal will leave for is Alabama and it's rumored he has said so.
