I'm sure Billy Napier is a great guy and will end up being a very good coach at a power five school down the road, but he's not the hire for LSU right now.

This program is quickly becoming the laughingstock of college football. And It is just about THE absolute worst possible time to roll the dice on an up-and-coming coach. Woodward has got to pull off a Kim Mulkey-like hire. Period.

If I'm Woodward, I'm taking a blank check to Norman Oklahoma and handing it to Lincoln Riley. That guy will always work magic with the offense and have a stud quarterback coming in every year. He has zero defensive talent at Oklahoma. If he fielded just an average LSU defense, this program would be the next dynasty.

I'll hang up and listen.

WHY is that?? Because, like other A.D.'s before him Scott hasnt let out "leaks" to see the fans reaction?

BUT..I do agree on Riley and the best D.C. he can get!

Why doesn't he recruit defense as well as his predecessor despite a very down Texas?

Riley and Kiffin are 1A and 1B for me. I don't personally think Riley is realistic, so I'm aboard the Lane Train.

There are several others that I think COULD do a great job, including Napier. I like Aranda, Matt Campbell, Fickell.

I think there’s a little more to it than this

Because Norman Oklahoma is like Mayberry and the only reason offensive studs go is because they know Riley is a great offensive mind and he will get them into the league. There's really no reason for a defensive stud to choose Oklahoma unless they're actually from Oklahoma.

Riley’s dogs are named Boomer and Sooner. Who’s donating the $100 for the shots to get rid of those mutts before the move? You?

Dabo
Day
Riley
B Kelly
Jimbo

All would have to say no for him to even be considered imo. I would have said Franklin but I think he probably lost that opportunity.

It's becoming the laughingstock because Ed is on the sidelines scrolling through Tinder while the team is getting their shite pushed in by Kentucky.

Names can be changed! How about "Geaux" and "Tigers"??

All this speculation is a waste of time. I believe the choice has been made and we just waiting for it to be announced.

Who will it be? No one but Scott and the coach. But, If i had to place a bet it would be Riley. Simply due to the lack of chatter from either...But thats my 2 cents. Flame Away!

But this isn't true. Amazing facilities and fan support. They recruited and coached elite defenses literally the coach prior to Riley.

So tell me why his defensive talent and coaching has been so bad when his predecessor proved both are doable there?

ETA FTR I'm just being Devil's Advocate here somewhat - I'd like Riley hire I think. But I don't think he's the "can't miss" guy people think he is. Plays down to opponents a lot and his defenses routinely suck dick.

So call your shot now for when Riley says no.

Riley is my #1, but I don’t think it’s happening.

How are you sure of this? How do you know this?

He always has lousy defenses at OU. Why? Why is perceived as the total coach with the greatest upside?

The coach who should become the next head football coach of LSU is a no brainer. It's Lane Kiffin. Indeed, if Woodward makes the idiotic stupid mistake of letting Lane Kiffin remain at Ole Miss, it won't be long at all before Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss will not only be beating LSU on the recruiting trail, but also on the football field every year.

Therefore, Woodward better steal Lane Kiffin away from Ole Miss to make him the new head football coach of LSU. If Woodward doesn't steal Lane Kiffin away from Ole Miss, then it means that Woodward is terribly incompetent.

Sure Lane Kiffin has some old skeletons in his closet, but so does all the other candidates as well. Lane Kiffin's skeletons are just more publicized because they happened on a bigger stage.

Nonetheless, there isn't a better coach in America to coach up Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard. As Lane Kiffin either has the best offensive mind in college football or if not, he is at least in the top-three, that's for sure.

I mean, if Lane Kiffin isn't hired, LSU fans 30 years from now will be looking back and saying, "you know, LSU had the perfect opportunity to hire Lane Kiffin, but made the stupid mistake of hiring someone else? I mean, how stupid could the administration at LSU have been back then?"

Not to mention that Lane Kiffin is on Ed O's level on the recruiting trail.

Thats my only issue with Riley. I try to tell myself he would have more local talent on the Defensive side to draw from at LSU.

Lincoln Riley might have been a good head coach in the second rate Big 12 conference playing against second-rate competition. However, in the SEC, Lincoln Riley is just a middle of the road head coach.

As his days of producing Heisman winners will be over with as soon as OU moves to the SEC. Why? Because he won't be able to run the scores up on the second-rate competition in the second-rate Big 12 conference anymore to pump up his QB's numbers.

Quite the stretch

An offer from OU, offensively or defensively, is a dream come true for any aspiring football player

They are a blue blood program
