I would think all the talk about him only being the goat because of superior resources, and that he can't compete in the NIL era sticks in his craw, maybe enough to come back for one last ride to cement his legacy even in the current era.

Normally I would fully agree, but with the way the sport is changing so quickly right now, I don't mind a short term solution to right the ship while we let the courts continue to settle things out.
I think Kelly could have been a much better hire in the old system of stacking talent. But with all the NIL changes, he wasn't equipped to deal with it and maybe lost his edge as well.
So I don't mind as much taking a risk on a shorter term person from a smaller college. But also, if you can have a short term Saban, you can't say no to that.

I would like the McNeese Ad as assistant AD because he is a former basketball coach and we will need one after this year probably. Would be nice to have a basketball in the room. Let him pick next coach. Wade probably wouldn’t come back and if he did due to his loyalty and relationship with that guy he would probably have to have some serious demands of NIL funds to know we were serious. If we did that he may come back. If not at least I feel better about next hire having someone in AD department that cares about basketball and knows it to help pick the next guy.

If it’s Saban, it should be announced as soon as the ink is dry so he can get to work on this class and the portal.

A great question.
I believe my source 100 percent that LSU, or at least some at LSU, in cahoots with big power players are actively trying to get Saban.
However, personally, I think Saban will ultimately stay retired and LSU will also miss the boat on Kiff, Lanning and Freeman. We will end up settling on the second coming of Les Miles......namely, Drinkwitz.
