Other than Mack Browns tenure at UT, AU has been a "better job" than UT for a long time. What Auburn did with Pat Dye, Terry Bowden, and Tuberville>>>> Fred Akers & John Mackovic. Just sayin'
It has been a better job because those coaches made it that way (take out Akers, replace with McWilliams).

When you take a step back though, look at the HC/Football Program as a whole, and all the resources (history, location, academics, in-state recruiting, etc.) available, Texas is the better job. Of course that doesn't change the fact that Auburn is still one one hell of a job.

Yeah, but his willingness to take the job after having spent time recently at Auburn suggests that, perhaps, it's not as bad a situation for him as it looks like from the outside looking in.

In other words, he knows what he's getting himself into if he goes back to Auburn.

I cannot and will not argue against this point. I have to say though, not just any coach will make UT live up to the status they have at the moment and the eighties could be back with the next hire. Same thing with AU.

Very true.

My only hope would be that, if it were to occur, he would quickly be shown the door. In this "what have you done for me lately" World of College Football, I'd say that would even be pretty likely.

Sure. It's not happening. It never was.

All these rumors and the story from the fox station were debunked late last night (see my post on page 2 of this thread, my one on MSB, or my one on the SEC Rant) but some media outlets are still trying to push the story when there really isn't was.

Will Muschamp is not leaving Texas for Auburn, period.

I just find it funny that WVUE in N.O. is reported as being the first to "break" this story.
