Something must be going on because Miles is being used against LSU right now in recruiting the elite athletes. The other SEC West teams are actively telling recruits that Miles is headed to Michigan right now and this is hampering our recruiting efforts.

You just can't see the decline going on is your problem. This 8-4 will be 7-5 or 6-6 next year. Ditch Dumbo now and move on, LSU is set up to win. If it takes a hit for a year or so, so be it, but it's already on the decline with no end to it in sight.

I swear, some of you guys are really going to believe the sky is falling when Les does leave or retire. And I hate to be the one to break it to you hand-wringing Chicken Littles, but it IS eventually going to happen one day.

Completely wrong misinformation. LSU put in Miles orig contract a $1.25mil buyout if he goes to Mich. He has no buyout to go anywhere else if he chooses... This clause has not changed since 2006.

Of course it will and it will be a planned event-time for staff and others to prepare. Some of you guys underestimate the potential impact of Les leaving. Absolutely astounds me what some on here say and believe. I hope we don't have to share your hard lesson learned.

Im actually pretty indifferent to whether he stays or goes, but the fact is, you don't know this. He could call a noon presser tomorrow announcing that he's leaving for Ann Arbor. And you know what? The sun will still come up Tuesday morning.

Yes it will. We'd survive Miles leaving but I think those that believe we'd get an excellent coach and not miss a beat in recruiting and winning games are wrong.

That's a risk you take even if he does leave with plenty of notice. Nothing is guaranteed.
The opposite could just as easily be true. We might land a home run hire.

2 things of note
The search committee chair played with Miles
The interim AD played with Miles and very much wants him at Michigan
Despite a split athletic department Miles is as big of a name as there is this go around besides Harbaugh. Everything Michigan is looking for Miles has a check next to his name. Except the age factor but you can get 10 good years from Les. Will they pay for his staff? How much will they pay Miles?
I think it's 35% Miles with 65% with the field. The biggest point of interest is that Miles is interested this go round.

The opposite is not just as easily true. There is a much higher chance that our next football coach is a failure rather than a huge success. Look around the country at all the big name schools. Nobody stays on top forever.

With the way the players are looking at LSU? Good QB play and the team could be special. I think Miles stays put even if offered.

I'd rather it be planned and have someone in place. Not scrambling around with a month til signing day so our rivals can come in and snatch up recruits while we are left with our pants at our ankles.

At the age of 61, this will be the last opportunity he will have, to coach at Michigan. I'm sure it will be a tough choice to make, if/when he is offered the job.

If offered, it would be tough to turn down. I think Miles is great for the SEC, but you can hardly blame a guy when his home school says it needs him.
