If Miles gets asked or offered i think he takes it. The time is now for him if he ever wants to coach at Michigan. He is getting older and if this one passes him by he may not get that chance again. With that said, if he stays i don't think he would ever get the chance again, just my opinion.

He does a great job recruiting and he's a genuinely a great guy, but anyone who thinks he's one of the top gameday coaches is fooling themselves.
ETA: if he wants to suck the athletic program dry when he's already one of the highest paid coaches in the country, screw him. He hasn't earned any more money.

I think the real question is: Will Michigan pay Les Miles LSU money? I know they have the resources. It is not a question of "can" they afford Miles. But it would take around $4 million to get Les to leave LSU, and Michigan has never paid that kind of money to a coach.

I don't doubt that there could be something to this. Miles has to know that if he doesn't have LSU at least back in the SECCG and/or a BCS bowl in the next 2-3 years, his rear end will be on fire, so he may be trying to make it next to impossible to get rid of him if that happens.

I believe it will take nearly 5y, $25Mil to lure Lester to Michigan. He already is guaranteed $15Mil with us (barring some scandal). His family is happy here; his daughter is regarded as a top swimmer in state in HS and his younger son plays select baseball nearly year round, which he will not/cannot do in Michigan. I certainly don't think he would be eager to take on the Maize and Blue headache for equal money. Additionally, LSU is much easier to recruit to than Michigan (climate, culture, food, climate, girls in short skirts and shorts most of the year, climate).
Now, with reference to the contract issue with us, I speculate that this is about an extension and/or a slight bump in pay. Les has four years left on his deal...few successful coaches in college want four or fewer years left on contract b/c it can send the wrong message to recruits or be used against you in recruiting. So, I believe Les gets a 2 yr extension at $4Mil per with no rollovers in exchange for an $8Mil buyout for LSU and a $3M buyout for Michigan.
Lastly, if all this comes to fruition quickly and Michigan offers 5y-$25Mil guaranteed and Momma and kids are OK, then Miles goes because LSU will not and should not match that offer...BTW, that would make him the 3rd highest paid behind Saban and Brown I think.

Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. If he had done this, it would have to be an amendment to his contract and thus be approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors. They are required by law to release the agendas and minutes of their meetings. This would've been available for everyone to see.
