I think Miles is just biding time and avoiding burning bridges until Michigan makes an offer between the bowl game and next week Wednesday. Miles will accept.

No, I'm saying he is going to leverage a contract with more job security. So that if he gets booted, he will have another huge buyout clause.
I think Miles is a mediocre coach personally but he deserves another year. But if he wants to try and dick LSU with some contract that isn't healthy for LSU, then I say let him go. It would suck but we can survive. Personally, I think it is going to be harder to get a homerun hire than people think. I'd be worried about our recruiting class and what staff members would actually stay with the new guy.

He can leverage a huge contract or leave...like you said, a win win

Which is why I really don't think he is leaving...but then again, he is on the hot seat at LSU. He'll get at least 2 years at Michigan. Hes year to year now at LSU until he does something drastic again like a SEC Championship or NC.

I bet Miles has a Saturday plane ticket from Dallas to Ann Arbor.

Bets on Miles getting another insane buyout clause?
Please, not after the reaction to the last one.
Nope, not again.

I'd be all for bumping him to $4 million+ a year in exchange for the striking of any automatic rollovers and/or the reduction of the payout to him if LSU were to fire him. It's not the annual salary that sucks so bad, it's the never ending golden parachute that has the admin by the balls.

^^^ This.
Agreed. This is what Harbaugh is doing with the Niners and the Dolphins. IMO, LSU is stupid to give him anything more than another year extension.

You'd think the man would be more interested in job security. Why should he renegotiate when he already has us by the nuts? He can stay, get fired and hurt LSU. Or he can stay, not get fired and earn his high salary. I'm just not sold on this Michigan deal.

Probably. Just trying to hedge my bet by extending out to Wednesday.
Put it this way, Miles will either have a new (renegotiated) contract with LSU or a new contract with Michigan come next week Wednesday.
If he doesn't get some form of a new contract from LSU, that's pretty much a vote of no confidence from Alleva. In which case, Miles ought to seek out greener pastures ASAP.

I was told that earlier in the season his buyout was negotiated down to like 10Mil, but to get him to agree with that, if he wins 11 games, it goes back up to like 15 or so..take it fwiw
if they did that they deserve to be shot

If Hoke is not hired at Blue by tomorrow night, and Alleva and Co. won't budge, we can guess what's going to happen.

That doesn't necessarily mean he is leaving. It just might mean Michigan wants to contact him after the bowl game...
Personally, if he leaves, I'm concerned about our recruiting class...even if we get a homerun hire. I sure hope LSU has been preparing for this the past several weeks and we don't get dicked again like Saban...

Did you learn your negotiating skills from Alec Baldwin's character in Glengarry Glen Ross?

Good point.

You're right; it is not a 100% lock under that circumstance. But you have to admit it would be a good guess. I doubt Michigan would need to formally send him a contract though. I'd be surprised if Miles's interest hasn't already been determined. Informally.

Let him seek greener pastures. He's a good coach but he shouldn't make more than he does now.
