Well I certainly don't think O is a home run hire or any less of a gamble either.

Haha...yeah, I'm laughing at you.

O is a big gamble. Gundy is a proven head coach.

I'm just saying Gundy isn't the proven guy y'all think he is.

60 games over .500, multiple digit win seasons, major bowl games, success over a decade

I'd say he is about as proven as you're going to get outside of a Jimbo type.

How many BCS bowls has he gone to with the second best team in his state?

Technically one. If you throw in the NY6 appearance last season, two.

He's a very good coach and I absolutely would've taken him over O, but he still only has 1 conference title, 1 top-10 finish in the AP poll and 2 wins over Oklahoma in 12 years. He can't seem to get over the hump, even as the strength of the Big XII has declined.

holy shite are you serious?
Saban and Meyer have really skewed the perception of good coaches. Crazy.

Wait a second. You people would have wanted Gundy at LSU?

I want trust on one side of the ball, so yeah.

There have been rumors for a couple years now that he wants out. I don't think he and T Boone Pickens get along all that well

I have a friend that is a big booster for osu and he has mentioned this a few times. He said Mike Gundy was looking at openings last year but was convinced at the last minute to stay.

If Oklahoma State is Mississippi State, what are Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech? Or TCU and Baylor, historically speaking? Are you saying that after 12 years, they are still at a disadvantage to the rest of the conference like Mississippi State?

Gundy would have been down with retaining Aranda and probably most of the staff too.

Joe Alleva is a huge sissy cuckold babyback bitch and ponamsky is a fat frick.

Would OSU take Les back? Les could put together a hell of a staff with T Boone Pickens' money

The melt from the OU fans would be glorious. All of my OU alumni coworkers hate less with a passion. Frick OU

Is this a serious question?

Being generous, like 4th tier. There are at least 20 coaches who would have been better hires than O.

The only reason you hire O is because those 2nd tier and below hires aren't "good enough" as in if you don't get a sexy pick like Jimbo or Herman, then it doesn't matter who you hire, and that a better hire will be available in 2-3 years if your "consistency" hire doesn't work out.

There's literally no reason to hire O to 1) Compete for a championship or 2) Take a chance on someone building a program for the next 10 years.

He doesn't fit in either bucket. Therefore, you hire O as a stopgap to prepare for the next "Saban-type sure thing." Which is an awful reason to hire someone.

we may have just missed that guy.

but by the time you know if it's him or not he'll be dominating somewhere else and not coming to LSU.

so even if he's a "stopgap", i have zero faith in Alleva to make the right hire next time.

Yeah - It's kinda infuriating to sit back and watch other programs reaching out, interviewing, and zeroing in to get their coach while we think back to Alleva's shite show. It's actually embarrassing. Thanks Joe.
