Mel Tucker’s record as a head coach is 14-12

The amount of Mel Tucker threads on the first page of this board right now is laughable, the board has already come unglued and we're not even two days into this

If Tucker was not black he doesn't even get a second look. This is stupid.. and if they do some virtue signaling bullshite like this the fans will leave in droves. This has to be known.

Had one year at Colorado, a garbage program. In his second year at Michigan State, he has them undefeated. I think his record is rather misleading. People are selling him short. Mel is competent.

And I hate the whole forced diversity aspect.

I would be hesitant on Aranda as well, but at least there is a much more recent connection there. At least LSU won a championship with his defense. His defense held Trevor Lawrence to 0 TD passes. That alone gives him an edge as far as an LSU fan is concerned.

I would also imagine Baylor has beaten multiple teams with winning records this season. I am not going to look it up though. Let's let the season finish out before comparing, IMO.

this is an incredibly lazy mentality, the guy has a lengthy resume as an assistant in both college and the pros. He was a DB coach and DC for multiple years at both levels. He was part of 2 NC winning staffs (2002, 2015) and a 3rd that played for the title (2017). He's time as a HC is limited that's true and if you prefer a coach with more time as HC fine but please do not support Aranda or even worse Brady if that's the case.

He shouldn't be the first choice but if you have to move down the list, we could a lot worse. He could be very good, his coaching record halfway thru his 2nd year at MSU doesn't tell us much, to dismiss him over just that is shortsighted at best.

He has a long and spotty resume.

His last two defensive coordinator jobs were in Chicago and for Georgia and overall a very mixed bag. Both got significantly better after he left.

Colorado he was bad as HC. Mich State the jury is very much still out.

Aranda has improved defenses everywhere he’s been as a DC, and so far as a HC looks at least equal to tucker at mich state, without the Colorado debacle. He’s also familiar with the area and has connections.
