I think Shark fricker is a good Xs and Os coach, a very poor recruiter, a marginal talent developer, and a weird unlikeable person.

So...meh

Barry Odom couldn't do that. It's one of the reasons he's not the HC anymore.

Florida's administration's biggest gripe with McElwain prior to the whole lying about death threats things was that he is a pretentious prick that is not easy to work with. Far worse than an Urban Meyer. Usually an administration may look past that if you're actually winning national championships, but this guy took it to the next level.

From those that I know that worked at the athletic department when McElwain was here was that if you wanted to speak to him you had to go through "his" people first. He brings in a whole staff of "his" people that aren't part of the UF administration and puts an unnecessary layer. It's odd for a coach to do this. Even Urban was more open to speaking to administrators than McElwain was. Muschamp and Mullen are all-open arms when it came to the administration. They're there to help you, but McElwain runs afoul with that at the big programs.

Good luck, Mizzou.

I think it would be a decent fit. He's a solid coach. I know it was down but he won the East twice taking over Muschamps dump. They Would have been a legit playoff contender year one if Grier doesn't get suspended.

The Florida job was just too high pressure for him.

He will win the games he's supposed to win

He's not taking Missouri to the next level but he's not going to destroy the program. He's an upgrade over Odom.

There are high ceiling up and comers for sure but he's a solid floor guy

Which is why I don’t like it. frick the floor. Give me the ceiling. I’m honestly not even sure he’s an upgrade. Things fell apart for Odom this year, but before this he was on an acceptable trajectory and improving every year. This was supposed to be the year it came to a head, but it didn’t. Doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have.

Now we are bleeding our recruiting class and roster to hire another guy who realistically is going to give you roughly the same results

McElwain got the shaft at UF he won the east twice then fired midseason the next year.

They never gave him time to build anything and his first 2 years results didn’t warrant a year 3 firing

He said his players received death threats in a press conference but never reported them to the correct people. That is what got him fired midseason.

However, the shark frickerfiring has worked out for all parties involved.

Recruiting did him in at Fla and I don't see how he pulls players to Missouri

Maybe he's learned that he needs to hire a staff full of recruiters.

Orgeron is proof that coaches can learn from their mistakes at prior stops. The guy is a good coach on the field, just needs help recruiting.

I read that the S&C program was on the honor system. The players never had any coaches around to help them train. One of our defensive lineman in anonymous interview said guys were going to Planet Fitness and hiring personal trainers out of pocket

Because he's not a good recruiter and the state of Missouri doesn't produce enough talent for someone who can't recruit to succeed.
