I think people are over thinking this. Bama hasn’t had to do a coaching search in forever and this caught them by surprise. They are going to look at Dabo who is “one of them”, won a couple Natty’s at a place like Clemson, proved he could beat Saban, and they will pull the trigger.

Heck, Dabo would cut off his right nut to be the Bama coach so there won’t be a lot of negotiation either. It will be too easy for both sides to make the move unlike some of these other candidates.

If you are looking to drive a program into the ground, JF is the conductor of that train. But DS ain't far behind in my opinion, he wouldn't continue the recruiting that NS has and that my friend is only EVERYTHING.

It's gonna be Dabo after they strike out.

Dabo would be the move if he'd get behind NIL and the portal. Bama will have to fully embrace NIL going forward to pull recruits like Saban did.

I hope it is Norvell just to see the absolute melt out of FSU fans. Passed over in playoff then steal their coach? It may break them.

What about Booger, Ryan Clark, Jacob Hester, T-Bob, etc? You don’t see then bloviating about LSU coaching rumors. Having played somewhere doesn’t give you inside access to the AD’s office in perpetuity. And I think working in the media would make them more tight lipped around you because they don’t want that shite leaked out

You don't think he could possibly know anything about Kiffin's time around the program and things that aren't necessarily public regarding the fallout there?

I think there will be some reluctance to step into Saban shoes by some of the top names. Let somebody else fail, then swoop in.

So he's just been sitting on that information for almost a decade?

Of course he has access to information that the everyday Joe doesn't. Just like his partner on the radio, Cole Cubelic. Cole has access to information behind the scenes at Auburn. And people trust them because they e shown they're able to not run to the nearest microphone or camera and tell anyone who will listen.

I'm not sure why Greg gets so much hate from Bama fans. He is a professional and doesn't do his job with his crimson colored glasses on all the time.

Kiffin to me is the clear option. He would 100% have them 10-2 at worst and in the playoffs every year. Hell, he is doing that at ole miss

I could see Kiffin back in the NFL after this season. He's a great game planner and a mediocre recruiter, which better suits him for the pro game.

Why would DeMeco leave a great job with a team on the upswing with a great young core and franchise QB for the pressure cooker of being Saban's successor

Good question. Less specifically, why would any NFL coach leave the league for CFB right now?

I’d love to see that — would mean said coach is either an idiot or intends to use Bama as a stepping stone for another pro job.

He says Kiffin burned some bridges at UA.

There was a post on BOL that I saw that said when Kiffin was in Tuscaloosa, he was fricking any female that had legs. And a couple of them were the family of high ranking UA officials.

Clearly, that’s message board fodder, but seems to be par for the course for Kiffin.

Dabbo is way too quirky for the stodgy old boosters who were put out to pasture by Saban & are now back into running thing behind the scenes. And he's been open about his dislike / use of NIL recruiting.

I know a lot of Bama fans don't want him

But it is a good option even with the questions about Dabo of late. He's a multi-championship coach who loves Alabama and is already considered elite. He might fail, and if so, whatever. There is a high likelihood of failure (or at least a normal 4-8 year tenure) for whoever is picked. So go for the multi-title winner and hope for the best?
