FWIW. My dad use to write Saban's contract at LSU. Saban signed them pretty quick back then..

That's one part of the reason I think Saban ends up at Texas. I said it before and I'll say it again, as much as some of you want to look at this move as a black eye on Alabama's reputation, the evidence doesn't point to that. There is literally NOTHING Saban can do at Alabama that can top 3 titles in 4 years. He's been in Tuscaloosa 7 years so he obviously is fond of the place. You can love a place while still wanting to experience somewhere new and exciting where you are needed. I think the money (debts paid off aside) isn't as big a factor as complacency and a bit of boredom with success at Alabama is. It just makes a lot of sense from a change of scenery/recharge the batteries/brand new start in a new interesting place kind of way.

He let an extension sit on his desk for months. Two years ago. Then he signed it. Nice try.

Logical arguments to a scorpion. lol

He will leave because it is his nature. or

He will stay because he has changed.

Hence, the only argument that we need to be having is has he really changed?

So give me those;

He is older, wiser, more settled maybe?

Alabama was arguably the greatest program in cfb history, pre- Saban. (Now the debate is over)

And you wonder why other programs would cheer Saban leaving? Many are sick of Bama and more importantly, Bama fans.

Even during the deep dark DuBose/Fran/Price/Shula years. By far, the worst 8-year stretch in our history. Bama had 3 10-win seasons and an SEC championship

Alabama was 15 years removed from a national title. Had three poll titles in the previous 30 years to 2007. Texas, on the other hand, hasn't had but one title since 1970. If they are all they are built up to be why have they struggled so much to reach the pinnacle? Even Mack Brown only has two conference titles in 16 years.

When Saban came to Bama, they had two conference titles in the prior 15 years. Texas three. One NC to Texas one.

If they are all they are built up to be why have they struggled so much to reach the pinnacle?

Never before has a program done so little with so much, like Texas has.

Idk why everyone is arguing this prestige thing. It's all about money.

If Saban thought that all those previous championships mattered, then he would have signed the extension by now.

The point is, Saban revived an Alabama program with a great history and Texas wants the same. And given the money and recruiting in Texas, it won't be so difficult.

When Mack has them winning at least 10 games from 2001-2009, it can't be that difficult.

BTW, a little factoid: Texas holds an NCAA record for most winning seasons at 106 out of 119 seasons of football

I can name you 5 1/2 million reasons he's fond of Tuscaloosa. And not a one of them is because it's Tuscaloosa.
