LSU Tigers Wire Tyler Nettuno

College football insider lists Brian Kelly as a candidate at Michigan if Jim Harbaugh leaves for the NFL.
He (Jim Harbaugh) has been tied to the open Los Angeles Chargers job, specifically. If he does ultimately leave, that would create a late opening at one of the top jobs in the country. And The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman included LSU coach Brian Kelly as a potential candidate for the job if that happens.
Feldman said that with the “incredibly high bar” in Baton Rouge and a fit that has seemed a bit strange from the start, he’s heard speculation that Kelly would go for that job if he thinks he has a shot at it.

Saban embraced the high bar at Alabama, that is what any coach who considers himself truly elite would do. For Brian Kelly to want to be considered truly elite by others, he has to embrace the high bar at LSU. Kelly has, and he will continue to do so, regardless of what Michigan does.

Kelly's buyout for any job he would go to is only $2M which is pretty laughable considering we're on the hook for 90% of his entire remaining contract if we made the move on him.
For as much as Woodward gets credit for things/hiring coaches he can be truly awful in structuring contracts. This was one of them.

Does Frank Wilson have enough gravitas to be successful head coach at LSU?

Calling BS on that. Who is his source? Mascona? I'll believe it when I see it.

These bullshite rumors are pushed by people like aTm and Bama so they can negatively recruit against LSU. When it doesn't happen, he will say, "At the last minute, the deal fell through!"

Feldman can stick it.

If you think Kelly is leaving with the 25 class he has in the making you're on some serious drugs

Yeah, hiring all these assistant coaches , landing top recruits for 2025.......and then bolting for Michigan
nothing would shock me anymore...
but I give it zero percent chance...because Kelly said a few times "this is my last stop"

Wait, if Kelly walks away Michigan would pay LSU $2 million for his buyout the LSU would pay Kelly the remaining ~$65 million left on his contract? That makes no sense.

Yea, he just hired two defensive coaches to bail.

So Kelly would leave LSU because the "bar is incredibly high"...to go to a program that just won the National Championship? The logic of this statement makes zero sense. Is it Feldman's assumption that since they just finished as the best team in the country the Michigan expectations will now be LOWER than that of LSU?

Heard it from a Texags hack and a BR hot-take artist who is wrong more often than he is right.

Man you know its recruiting and portal season when you read feces like this.

Not saying this will happen, but the landscape of college football is wild at the moment. Coaches have 0 loyalty if the money is right, and if they feel like they can be more successful other places.
As I said previously, I don’t think it will happen, but nothing will surprise me.

Feldman is O’s boy, so I’m sure he’s not the biggest fan of LSU these days.

No if Kelly leaves for any job on his own he owes LSU $2M (or the school/NFL program that would hire him)
If we fired Kelly (without cause) we owe 90% of his remaining contract. Which would be about $69M right now. If Kelly won a NC, then we fired him later in same contract, we would owe 100% of remaining contract, or about $76.8M right now.
