LSU would be foolish to concede Herman to TX

Whoever gets him is going to have a dynasty on their hands and be a perennial top 5 team for the next 20 years.
He is worth exponentially more than jumbo fisher or anyone else.
LSU would be foolish to just throw up hands and say "well he probably wants to go to TX....we'll settle for Jimbo. "
This kind of coach does no come very often. LSU needs to put the full court press on and make him offers he can't refuse.

He's a good coach, but this might be a bit much.

Yeah if he's you're guy you have to go all out full court press to get him. If we do that and Tx spends some time trying to get Saban or Urban that could be all we need to tip the scales in our direction.

Eh, there is a special non-Power 5 coach every couple of years. They don't always work out, coaching hires are never a sure thing.

Who is Herman's agent?
Posted on 10/4/16 at 8:48 am to Tiger Ryno
The guy has coached 19 games at Houston. I dont think you break the bank for that.
Sure, if he is the guy lsu should compete with Texas for him. But if the price gets to high i have no problem cutting it off.
He is far from a sure bet.

Looks like Tiger Ryno based on the OP

Agreed. We need to punch Texas in the nuts and let the college FB world know we are LS F'n U and we are back.

This kind of coach does no come very often.
Tom Herman has proven he can coach offenses. He has yet to prove very much as a head coach. He has tons of potential. But he has yet to proven to be a sure thing.

Odd that you bring up Jimbo. They were both similar. Both won NC as Offensive Coordinators. The difference is that Jimbo has had actual success as a head coach in a major conference at a top level school. As a head coach, he's won a NC and sent several QBs to the NFL as first round draft picks.
Jimbo Fisher is a much more sure thing than Tom Herman, easily.

All I can think about with Herman is he could very well be the next Sumlin.

At this stage there is no direct LSU to coach contact but O.
This is the time for resume collection from lesser known HC agents, and LSU third party cut out contacts to the hot HC agents. No one officially hired until season over.
This allows HCs to say "neither l nor my agent have spoken to anyone at LSU". Only one gets job, all the others must have cover to keep their current gigs.

How much are you willing to pay for him - honestly curious.
I mean he has an awesome resume but to assume he is a sure fire once in a generation coach ignores a lot of college football history.

I agree that he is an order of magnitude better than Jimbo but this dynasty talk is a bit premature.
Herman looks phenomenal so far but let's face it, he is doing this with Levine's players. Can he judge talent? Can he recruit? that is what we don't know right now.
But it's likely he is off the table with Texas about to can Strong. I don't believe the delusional guys on this board saying LSU is a better job than Texas. Have you been to Austin? The place is beautiful, the money is better, and you've got the whole huge state of texas behind you.

8 million. If Texas offers more I would give him more than they offer.

So when does LSU or LSU's 3rd party agents reach out to Herman's camp to gauge interest? If interest is confirmed, how much money do you think LSU's first offer would be for?
