Glad to know LSU is the type of bottom feeding program of giving people their big break.

So who would coach LBs and DL? O takes DL and we hire a LB coach?

But wasn’t the strategy to put elite and proven coordinators around O? Now O is just hiring from the nfl bargain bin.

Contrary to what a lot of people on here think, we are not the type of program that coaches sit and wait for us to offer them. Is it a great job with superior athletes and facilities? Hell yeah! Outside of Freeman, I don't know if there was one person that everyone would be happy with. I was hoping for Reeves over Arnett and then got sold on Schumann. What makes them more qualified than a guy that has been coaching the NFL for most of his career? You don't think he learned anything from Mike Zimmer this year or Paul Guenther in Cincinnati?

LoL Mickey Joseph is one of the worst coaches on staff. He’s purely there for recruiting. And the Vikings defense was awful this year, led primarily by shitty corners. Worst in the Zimmer era by far.
And it’s once this guy took over. Bengals also had their worst pass defense of the last 10-15 years when this guy was in charge. There’s a reason he’s on his third nfl db job in 5 years. He’s awful.
It’s a fricking joke of a hire

What Rule were the OC and Passing Game Coordinator interviewed and hired under? Business As Usual Rules that benefits one group over another?

There will still be two spots left to hire. We would hire a DL and a LB coach

The only "bottom feeder" is you. Yeah we gave "bottom feeder" Joe Burrow and an unknown "bottom feeder" with no track record from the Saints Joe Brady their "big breaks". Kinda worked out well didn't. Those 2 "bottom feeders" helped get LSU an undefeated NC and a team for all time.
Common sense aint so common after all.

Injuries hurt the Vikings secondary on top of letting Xavier Rhodes go. Bengals had 3 DBs emerge under Jones (Bates, Dennard, and Phillips) all 3 had their best years under him. Rashard Jones was a pro bowler under Jones as well. Jones coached under Dave Aranda, Marvin Lewis, and Mike Zimmer, so people are so ready to jump off the ledge. Y’all are acting like this can get worse than what we had last year.

So tigerfan88, using your same argument against Jones, does that mean that Corey Raymond is a bad coach after this season? I'm not bagging on Raymond at all. Hell, if he wanted the job, I'd support him having it. By all accounts, the Vikings secondary improved from the beginning of the year until now. I don't know what else a coach can do but make the guys he has better.

Well he was fired by the Bengals. So he wasn’t that good.
Corey Raymond has been here for 8 years and has consistently produced elite corners and safeties. The biggest change last year was the introduction of Pelini. Thus, the logical inference is Pelini changed the calculus in a negative way.
This guy is the opposite. He went into places that were historically successful and then they sucked.
Not to mention Raymond’s recruiting is a huge factor in his role. No idea if this guy can recruit

The entire staff was fired, nice try lol
Posted on 1/24/21 at 12:09 pm to tigerfan88
Bum Phillips once said there are two kinds of coaches, them that's fired and them that's gonna be fired. Look man, I don't know anymore than anyone else. Our defense was awful this year. We tried for Freeman and Nielsen and neither of them took it. Saban and Belichick ain't coming. Leonhard doesn't want the job. I'm not sure that his experiences preclude him from taking this job and doing well with it. I'm not sure if you realize that the secondary coach coaches the secondary to run the defense that the DC wants. How do we know the failure isn't part of the scheme?

The Cincinnati Bengals are historically successful? Did they not just have the #1 pick in the draft? He was in Miami, until this year hasn't been worth a damn either.
I agree 100% with everything you said about Raymond. All the more reason I would support his promotion, IF he wanted it. Before I hired another guy with secondary experience, I would definitely talk to Raymond first.

OK bud

We should do better than this! I can’t predict the future but if this is the hire then it was extreme failure from an optics standpoint.
