I'm not going to say they're state owned but you're clearly trying to keep sources happy when trying to push a narrative that Jones was on the radar early. If we're to believe he was circled early, why would he just be getting an interview now? Come on now.

Being on the radar doesn’t mean top choice. Obviously freeman and neilson were above him. I have no clue if he was really circled early or not. But in reality in coaching searches you don’t bring in a bunch of guys for face to face interviews. Just the way it is.

If we are assuming that Dave Aranda recommend Jones, then that is something to consider. I don’t think someone with the reputation he has for being smart and analytical would endorse a guy who doesn’t have the talent to do the job. I just don’t think that “something” is enough to overcome a pretty flimsy resume and instill and confidence. That is, unless the rumors are wrong and he’s only being interviewed for a safety coach position.

Listening to Verge today, it seems like alot of guys came to interview but either didnt interview well or didnt do well on the X's & O's part.

Coach O is putting a big emphasis on someone who can relate to the team and someone who can make the players understand the defense

I’m trying. My only optimism is that first two candidates were Freeman and Nielsen. Two young guys with lots of success.

That means they are looking for a type:
Young
Innovative
Successful

If they believe Jones fits the mold.. then we will see. It’s not my legacy riding on this hire. It’s O’s.

I’m hoping he gets it right!

This is great to hear.

It makes you wonder if really quality coaches even consider working under O a viable job. This guy might be an up and coming great DC. Or it's probably "Bye Bye O". O has to have top tier coordinators in order to succeed. If anything, 2019 made that clear.

Because he’s the 4th in person interview and they thought they had Nielsen but had to wait until Saints lost
How do you know they haven’t had early zoom conversations with him?

He coached multiple places with Aranda, I’m sure they asked Aranda for some potential prospects when this started

So, is he saying there have been many other candidates that have interviewed, who are not known?

Verge said this morning that we are interviewing “SOME” applicants today. Hoping for multiple interviews!

That is encouraging.

I like the idea of not rushing at this point.

that was our biggest issue. So yeah, there needs to be an interview-focus there.

Each position group, at times, seemed to be playing different calls. And the blown assignments were there for all of us to see.

hey Dave I know I spent last offseason pretty much shitting on your defensive scheme and told everyone with a mic how much better the D is now without you....who should I hire to lead my D now?

Looks like Pete Carroll expanded O’s search a little bit.

Why? Why is that the inevitable understanding? We already turned down Arnette because he didn’t impress in the interview. Why would this be any different? When this hiring process started everyone wanted O and Woodward to do their due diligence and interview as many candidates as possible and make the right choice. That’s exactly what they’re doing right now and this whole board is melting the frick down over it. It’s insanity.
