However, if, at the moment, LSU has a coach — Ed Orgeron. And I feel comfortable in calling him the favorite to get this job. If LSU wins these next two games, and especially if that helps them clinch a spot in the Sugar Bowl, Orgeron will be LSU’s next head coach.

I hereby declare this article a POS

Do folks not understand that hiring O, even if he can pull a Kiffin(unlikely), he won't be able to keep him past a year.

The young quarterbacks we have will learn his system and will then have to turn around and learn a whole new system when he leaves for a HC job. We need to hire a HC who can handle that himself. Tired of shite qb play.

And You O supporters seem to just be welcoming this shite. Have we not suffered enough? Do you really like the guy that much??

It makes me absolutely sick that LSU would settle

Any avg coach could interim these wins over these down SEC teams

Come the freak on

Why go this route and constantly depend upon both coordinator hires

They truly rarely pan out and often just leave

Lock down one side of the ball, preferably offense since LSU desperately needs a culture change there and has proven far more consistent to get great DCs

That's what i keep clinging to. It just has to be an offensive hire. Just HAS to be.

And the PR campain that's going on just has a sleezy feel to it. And it seems to be working.

If Alleva hires someone other than O with all of this pressure being put on him by the media and these fans who want a Louisiana man, i will have gained a new found respect for the guy.

Lol!! I don't agree with the hiring of O. I do agree with its denouncing all of the so called sources suggesting there is some kind of deal I place with any coach.

If the reaction to Les Miles' "stay" camp last year did anything, it likely strengthened the resolve of many around the program: do what needs to be done when it needs to be done.

"Press pressure" is, ultimately, overblown. If you don't believe me, consider recent election results.

Orgeron wins out and gets the job? If so this was the dumbest search in the last 50 years.

there is some truth in this article - this process has been put on the shoulders of Aleva- he ask for it and got it.

Here is why I would dismiss this article as far as merit is concerned:

quote:

Joe Alleva is keeping a very, very small council on this situation. Members of the LSU Board of Supervisors, like Scott Ballard and Blake Chatelain and a couple of other advisors. They are, however, just that. This will be Alleva’s call, because again, it’s his butt on the line if the hire doesn’t work out.

He writes that Alleva has a "very, very, small council" of advisors and that it "will be Alleva's call."

Then he writes, as fact, what is going on with Alleva and his small council. Unless he is one of the members of the council or unless one of those members is feeding him information, then he knows nothing more than any poster on this board.

In other words, he's doing what I and several others are doing - guessing and speculating.

The difference is, I admit I know nothing. He pretends he knows everything.

He may be right. But, if he is, it's because he guessed right. My advice to you LSU fans is this: Read the article for entertainment purposes only.

And if Alleva hires O the press will roast him for firing Miles at the first sign trouble.

There is some truth to the article. Right now, the candidates are Herman, Fisher, Orgeron not in any order.

At this point, I think any of them would take the LSU job. But the offer wont come until the season is over.

20-28 should not earn the right to lead a Top 8 program.

Im still holding out hope that O is not really a favorite, but the hiring committee has to make it look that way to keep the momentum going this season. Why would they say he's not a candidate and take the wind out of his sails and ruin the season? So sure, call him a candidate, but that doesnt mean he's getting the job. Give him a huge raise to show appreciation. He'd make more here as DL coach/recruiting coord than as a HC at any of the schools that would actually hire him.
