I stand by what I wrote. Home run hires win Super Bowls

Neither of you are wrong, just depends on your definition of a home run hire.

Andy Reid is a great coach. Winning super bowls is all about luck. Consistently getting your team in championship games is the mark of a great coach

Not always

Tons of average to below average coaches who fell into the right situation. Plenty of guys who just couldn't catch a break and always had their team in position for a Super Bowl

The former
Mike Tomlin
Jon Gruden
George Seifert
Tom Flores
Brian Billick

The latter
Marty Schottenheimer
Andy Reid
Bud Grant
Marv Levy

I guess tony dungy > bud grant

Add Marv Levy to "the latter" list

I like Andy Reid. I agree he is a great coach. No Super Bowl rings. He also coached when the division was down to make the road a bit easier. I would also have loved if Jerry would have hired him at some point.

How does it feel over there by yourself?

Anyone who does not think Andy Reid is a homerun hire, does not understand NFL Football.

Won't matter, Jerry makes all the hires.

I think we all know what the problem is. Bill Parcells walking away when I was a young kid that kinda pulled for the cowboys just spoke volumes to me.

Dallas needs to make a run at Jim Schwartz for D Coordinator.

Yep- Jerry Jones fired Ryan last year saying his defense had too many gimmicks. Now- Jerry says his defense does not have enough gimmicks so Kiffen gets the axe.

Guys- as long as JJ is in charge in Dallas- that's one less team we have to worry about.

While I agree Garrett isn't the answer, when you tell your head coach dictates play calling duties and hires and fires your DC, you can't put the blame on him for losing. This is all Jones.

Maybe not here but I'm not the only one who thinks home run = Super Bowl rings.

ok

On topic:
JJ is always going to be the issue. He has had great coaches, coordinators and players but wants to make all the calls and gets trigger happy on the firing range.

also, the problems this year (other than romo's injury) were the defense and playcalling

jones hired kiffin and stripped JG of playcalling duties. garrett has an argument

Garrett is one of the two Dallas Cowboy head coaches never to have a losing record. Jones fired the last one to hire Dave Campo.

So Brian Billick > Andy Reid?

Gruden > Marv Levy?

Don't look now, but it looks like there won't be any changes at all...

Jerry is loyal to his former boys, so dont be suprised if Norv makes his way back to Dallas.
