Doubt that, they’re geographically isolated

I would bet that we have a wider geographic recruiting footprint than LSU does right now and we aren’t even in the SEC yet.

meh

If Riley takes care of business, the rest will shake out in his favor.

1 Georgia 8-0
2 Alabama 7-1
3 Michigan State 8-0
4 Oregon 7-1
5 Ohio State 7-1
6 Cincinnati 8-0
7 Michigan 7-1
8 Oklahoma 9-0

If Riley beats Baylor this weekend, he leaps over Michigan and Cincinnati. The problem with Cincinnati is they have no quality wins going forward. Every team they face, except unranked SMU has a losing record. They can only drop. Next week will most likely look like this:

1 Georgia
2 Alabama
3 Michigan State
4 Oregon
5 Ohio State
6 Oklahoma

Then you get to the 11th week, when Ohio St. and Mich St. face off. OK will leap one of them. Let's just say tOSU wins. The rankings that week will be:

1 Georgia
2 Alabama
3 Oregon
4 Ohio State
5 Oklahoma

OK finishes strong with a quality win over ranked Okie St, and tOSU beats a ranked Michigan. So both leap Oregon, who ends the year with 4 straight non-quality wins.

1 Georgia
2 Alabama
3 Ohio State
4 Oklahoma

The conference wins further separate OK and OSU from the pack, and knocks off the SEC loser. If it's Bama, they for sure won't get in over undefeated OK, and I doubt 1-loss UGA would either.

Cool. Louisiana has always been consistently among the top five in players per capita in the NFL, and LSU (won 3 NC’s since OU won last) is the only power 5 school in the state. We don’t need a wide geographic foot print. But nonetheless we poach our fair share of players from Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Texas, and California, which are the states that matter in terms of recruiting “nationally”.

Why? OU is the better program of the three, and have recruited against those schools for decades.

What are you even trying to argue here? Do you realize the person I was responding to claimed Oklahoma's recruiting will "get dramatically better" once they join the SEC? It will not get dramatically better because they will still have to go into Texas and nationally to get big-time recruits. Something they've always done and will likely continue to do. To think the SEC is some magic pill that's going to make things easier, much less "dramatically" easier, is absurd.

do you realize that Lincoln Riley’s current contract has a $25 mil BUYOUT Clause?

Do you realize that’s what they have to pay him if they fire him…not if he leaves.

In terms of mileage, sure

In terms of talent, absolutely not

No way. Maybe a recruit here and there, but not “dramatically “

Oklahoma shares one recruiting advantage with Clemson: an extremely easy road to the playoff every season. As soon as they get to the SEC, they've lost that advantage. Then they have to compete with other SEC schools who geographically have a much better situation for any kid wanting to go to college and play high-level football.

You may get recruits all over, but not as many of the higher rated defensive guys in the southeast to come all the way out there. Yes, you may get a couple of studs here and there (like you have right now.) However, overall, I'd say LSU has a much larger advantage here.

I had close to the same thought. Bama at 2 with a loss and best win v OM and OK at 8 undefeated with 2 different QBs should tell Riley all he needs to know about being in the Big 12.
