They don't need help, but he would make them that much better and give them a better chance at pulling top DL talent out of Louisiana.
And FWIW, I'm not saying this is a reason to keep Coach O, because that would be a HUGE mistake, im just thinking about the biggest possible way he could frick us if he felt slighted.
Good.
Then it proves he's not really in it for Louisiana, LSU, etc. That would prove he's just petty and spiteful, and not really fit to be a head coach, so yeah, we would have dodged a bullet.

I doubt Coach O pisses and moans like a fricking schoolgirl and does that. He'd lose any integrity he already had.

The O-bots are just peppering us with irrational nonsense now.

What if we hire the right coach, start winning championships, Sabah retires (he eventually will), and we start pulling top talent from Bama's recruiting base?
Idgaf how Orgeron feels. He really got more of a shot than he deserved and he blew it. Can't hang our hat on "what might happen if we get rid of a coach" that's the mentality to made us keep Miles for too long. Orgeron is a good position coach. Borderline coordinator at a small school. Nothing more.

I'm starting to wonder if the folks who are posting on this board even watch college football.
I'm starting to wonder if people have any reading comprehension skills at all. Where in the OP did I state that Bama needs help on the DL. Clearly, they're doing okay there, but if O could in any way improve their chances with top DL recruits in La, you bet your arse Saban would take him.

You really don't know.

Then ....BYE!!! He had his shot. If he continues to pursue top tier HC jobs it is because of ego and his desire to be something that he is not. He has a niche but he wants more. The sooner he understands his place in the food chain and realizes how successful he has really been and what he has truly accomplished the better off he will be.

If you land Jimbo or Herman, it doesn't matter where Orgeron lands. You signed a top tier coach that can recruit on his own.
I want Orgeron to stay, but life will go on if he decides to leave.

Well, that's not exactly true. Orgeron can clearly recruit at a high level and if he stays in the SEC he will pull a guy that LSU is hot on every once in a while, particularly at a place like Bama.

So your hypothetical has him getting upset over not being a HC to join Bama as a CONSULTANT, for them to have a shot at a few more d-line recruits. Yeah I can totally see Bama wasting that kind of money on a consultant, and O being downgraded to an office position when they consistently have the best DL year in and year out.
I fully comprehend your post. It makes complete sense for all sides involved.

Oh well. He was offered the same position at LSU that he would take in the SEC. If he wants to go to State or Bama to do his thing and take the same position, that's his right.

Right, Bama would never hire someone to a bullshite position if it's in their best interest. LINK

I don't know if people realize but if a new HC coach comes in and Aranda is retained as DC don't you think he has a say in who his DL coach will be ?
Posted on 11/23/16 at 10:13 am to UpToPar
Come on man thats a terrible comparison. Their was a fire sale on Sark because nobody wanted to touch him due to his problems with the Sauce.
O can have a HC job next year if he wants one at some level. He's a good coach and plenty of teams would be glad to have him in a larger roll than a consultant that you have to hide from the public eye.

That's a fair point, and certainly a reason why it wouldn't make sense from Orgeron's perspective (unless he was truly trying to stick it to LSU), but it would certainly make sense from Bamas perspective.
Posted on 11/23/16 at 10:17 am to UpToPar
Saban would do it just for the optics. I can't wait!
Posted on 11/23/16 at 10:20 am to UpToPar
Sure Bama may try, but I could never see it going through. I have been a firm believer O will be a head coach next year. It may be at a mid-level school, but he can be very successful at rebuilding a smaller school with his energy and recruiting prowess.
