LSU is better than quite a few NFL jobs

winning 9-10 games every year and losing to the colts/patriots in the playoffs every year < winning 10-11 games at LSU and competing for the NC every year

you forget JDR is on the hot seat and still may not make it back to jacksonville as HC next year

bingo. it's called goodwill. I could see Lombardi and/or O'Keefe signing off on this in a heartbeat. And not because they want Les gone. (although that may be a part of it if LSU has a couple of BIG fish on the line)

Coaches talk to other coaches and a little goodwill can go a long way towards landing a big coach. If LSU says to Les that the buyout is waived in order for him to go home and get his dream job, I'm all for it. $1.25M is a drop in the bucket these days in bigtime college sports, and UMich would hire him with our without the buyout to contend with.

There are folks I do business with that I'm forever loyal to because of goodwill in cases when the contract said otherwise; and vice versa.


Now, since I'm catching up on this here thread, let me see if I get this straight:

1. Saban is seriously interested in LSU, and vice versa.

2. Spurrier is seriously intersted in LSU, and vice versa

3. Tubby is out.

4. Jack Del Rio is interested, but as stated here, the guy will be coaching the Jags into mid-January at this point. Probably a showstopper.

5. Jimmy Sexton is getting richer by the second.

gruden and parcells are of course stupid to bring up.

NFL HC (Winning)> LSU HC > Brusly HS HC > Bunkie JH HC > Grand Isle MS HC > Pop Warner HC.

And you know this how? John Fox is not on the hot seat at Carolina and they are god awful.
