You're missing the point...any of our players would perform fine in a pro style offense just as they would in a spread offense, main exception being a mobile QB. OL aren't much different in the two systems. Comprehension, try it.

no need to get cranky

but your confusing spread with "spread option"

there is no running qb in leech's system

AIR RAID But utilizes running backs and tight ends as well

There's a big difference in the blocking schemes between the two systems. That's one of the bigger concerns of NFL scouts, when looking at OL that played in the spread system.

And Leach ran an entirely different type of spread, in that he's never used a mobile QB. It's not the spread Urban Meyer or Rich Rodriquez has used. It's tied more closely to what Hal Mumme used at Kentucky in the 90s.

Yeah Hal Mumme's offenses never put any points up in the SEC I think the SEC would be scared.

I'd take Leach, honestly. He is a really good offensive coach who would find a way to make things work. And make them work well.

Only thing is, we'd be looking for another offensive coordinator in a year or two.

you're right i assumed it was a spread option vs. leach's air raid offense.

that said, whats the difference in the type of players we would recruit?

mainly to the other poster that said we recruited players based on a spread offense vs. pro-style.

the only difference really is the formations honestly, we have all the personnel in place. a andre debose or micheal crabtree would be nice but we have the players.

it's cool. I think we are going to see a little of the power set and spread set though

and possibly wildcat

I think what oklahoma state or arkansas runs now is a good bet to where i think we are going.

air raid can be run from under center fwiw. It's about core pass concepts more than anything. wider splits between the offensive linemen actually makes their job easier.. and it opens up passing lanes. and holy shite michael ford, spencer ware, and gore.. would kill in that offense.

An offense like that usually uses a speedy receiver or two in crossing routes. They get a ton of receptions. It's aggressive and it attacks the safeties.. and based on what the defense is giving you it's an automatic run sometimes.

Texas tech has NCAA infractions pending from 2007 when leach was there.

No thanks.

I think if we got the mad scientist as our OC that these doubters would change their tunes after looking at the scoreboard.

If Miles gets leach, with the athletes we have in place, i'll be ready to go to atlanta.

Well if you recall leach never had running QBs. So maybe his style fits a pocket passer like mett and rivers? Leach seems smart enough to figure out personnel and tweak his offense accordingly. Abviously a strong running game with Les Miles is priority #1

i think leach would be a huge advantage. sure, he ran a different offense at tech but it was because he was the head coach and he ran what he wanted too. if you look at his resume, he has always run his offense around his available talent, i think to build his name/reputation again, he would run a more pro style because of our talent, he is not stupid, he would do whatever he has to do to make himself look good so he can get a HC position in a couple of years.
