I don’t disagree. OM can’t even fill their small stadium and are downsizing. Kiffin has bitched in the past about that. He would have a full stadium, massive support and he’s been there before.
Maybe Alabama doesn’t want him or thinks others are better. Saban could also derail the hire because he knows lane would be very successful there.

Just a year ago, Lane finished 1-6 with losses to Arky, State, and TXTech. Only Jimbo saved him from 0-6 finish.

It's going to have to be somebody to work the NIL side like Kiffin does well. But I bet with Bama and Saban he did very little on that front and they have staff to orchestrate it and Saban and his DC/OC would just point to players to get out of the portal.
WIth that said, Bama is setup to run NIL deals and the HC just has to seal the deal. For whatever reason Dabo didn't set that up at Clemson but I don't think that will keep Bama from hiring him if they think he is the guy.
The lack of NIL and transfer portal activity won't keep them away. They have a whole army of people dealing with that.
