Kirby Smart: "No coach can out-coach recruiting." Something to remember with Aranda

I know Aranda is a great coach, but the knock against him is that he doesn't like to recruit. Not sure you can build long term success with a coach who doesn't like to recruit
Football Scoop: Kirby Smart says no coach can out coach recruiting

Coaches and schemes are often given too much credit for success, Kirby Smart points out that there isn't a coach out there that can out-coach bad recruiting.
The best teams in college football are a mix of the best players, and some of the best coaches and coordinators in the country that are able to put it all together and execute consistently every Saturday.

I think Les Miles proved this statement to be a fallacy pretty definitively

The narrative that Aranda can't recruit is overblown. He snagged some really good recruits with his time here not to mention he took several 3* and made them NFL players.

Good thing for Kirby or he would be jobless. Because he damn sure can’t coach.

We sure about that?
Les Miles won a national title and played for another, won two SEC titles.
I think that proves Kirby's point actually. He was likely never a top 3-4 coach in terms of X's and O's in the SEC and he had a hell of a lot of success.

Orgeron camp propaganda to knock Aranda down in 2016

Here y’all go with this bs narrative again. Aranda recruited great defensive players in every class he had at LSU.

Which is a myth perpetuated by rantards
He hated recruiting so much…he became a head coach!

I’ve always said that a chimp could coach Bama to 10 wins every year when you have the best high school athlete in the country at each position. It’s insane! 90% horses, 10% coaching.

Of course that’s true to an extent. After all the coaches aren’t playing, the players are. Recruit great players and even average football X’s and O’s Will suffice.

Kirby said that Brady's offense wasn't anything unusual, it was just executed very well with elite players (paraphrased).
You have to have all of the above: A good scheme. well coached with great players.

Not sure where that narrative is actually coming from. That's Joe Brady. The S or P on the right side of the recruit is for Primary or Secondary for those that don't follow recruiting.

Kinda funny how this Aranda can't recruit narrative appeared out of thin air and people are latching on to it.

Mixed into both of those title runs were losses to Arkansas and Kentucky. And add in 5-6 more disappointing seasons compared to the rosters talent…Apparently you can on some level out coach recruiting
It’s simply not an either/or scenario. No you can’t win if you can’t recruit. But that also doesn’t mean that recruiting is the end all be all. It’s a piece of a very large puzzle.
I’d argue player development is infinitely more important than recruiting. If you develop players while they are on campus, then it leads to winning which is the greatest recruiting tool of them all. Bama and UGA don’t win every year because they sign a bunch of 5 stars, they win every year because they consistently turn those 5 stars into elite players and contributors which turns into more elite young players wanting to follow that mold

It was created by the same people who were adamant that Aranda had zero head coach intentions and was going to be a DC for his entire career

I also think you cant out-recruit bad coaching. Not in the SEC for sure. You need both.

Truth
Saban can coach top talent better than anyone in CFB and he gets this talent yearly.
Hell, he'd wreck shite with UGA's roster the past few years too.

So what’s your assessment as to how he has recruited while at Baylor?

Why do we think this is true? Look at Iowa. They've finished in the top 15 probably 3-4 times in the past 20 years. How many top 25 recruiting classes have they had?
